Using a fan in the warmer months

Post by sleepyone101 » Sat May 08, 2021 3:04 pm

Does anyone have a fan next to their bed in the summertime, and have any tips on trying to reduce waking up with a sore throat and stuffy nose? I have the cpap humidifier turned off currently and am using non heated tubing.

No A/C available? I'm not sure a fan 'next' to the bed is a good idea.

Yes I have A/C, but that sometimes makes me even more congested than the desktop fan while sleeping.

Why the sore throat and congestion? Maybe you need to add a little humidity????

There's no reason that I know of that a fan couldn't/shouldn't be added though. I use a ceiling fan almost all summer. I wouldn't be afraid to put a fan next to my bed if I felt I needed it.

And I read here long ago that doing that could interfere with Cpap air either going in or out of machine (don't remember which).

We have a ceiling fan and a floor fan going 24 -7 in the bedroom. It has not affected my bilevel machine at all. I use the non heated hose and generally keep my humidity set to 1 year round. Oh we also have the a/c going most of the year. Its been on for a month or two now.

That shouldn't be a problem unless the fan is blowing directly into the CPAP machine intake opening.

Sounds like there is something else going on. Which model mask are you using?
