DME that carries Bleep and bills Medicare?

Post by barney999 » Wed May 05, 2021 6:23 pm

Hi all:

I'm a 6 month Medicare CPAP user who's having a problem finding a company that carries the Bleep Dreamport system and also accepts Medicare for payment.

My current CPAP supplier company is Apria. I was told by the local rep here in Honolulu, Hawaii that Apria doesn't carry Bleep and also that she doubted Medicare would cover it, especially the disposable Dreamports.

I saw in the BleepSleep forum that Lincare might meet my needs, but I saw the following on their lincarecpap.com website that they don't cover Honolulu, HI .

"Lincare is a contracted Medicare Provider for CPAP Equipment, Supplies and Services.*
*Excluding the following areas: Baton Rouge, LA, Honolulu, HI, Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, NY, and Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, PA."

From information I found here, it seems that maybe Aeroflow Health might both supply Bleep equipment and also bill Medicare. Can anyone confirm that?

If not, is there a company where I can buy the Dreamport solution with Medicare paying for it?

As an aside, I switched from a Nasal Mask to the Bleep Dreamport system about 2 months ago out of my own pocket. It was easy to adjust to and I have no plan to use any other mask, even if I have to pay for the Bleep out of my own pocket.

Thanks for any help!

Mahalo.

Yes... Aeroflow and Nationwide, as well, will bill Medicare and supply the Bleep and ports.

Thanks Pugsy! Much appreciated!

I'll look into both and report back on how it goes.

This morning I contacted AeroFlowCPAP and confirmed that they carry Bleep and that Medicare will cover it, which is great! So I placed the order with them.

Just a quick comment about my brief experience with AeroFlow CPAP. I really like their website and how easy it was to create a patient account and to plug in all my CPAP details. My patient account also showed exactly what supplies I was Medicare eligible for.

Also, the rep I spoke with was very knowledgeable. They made the ordering process very easy.

Thanks for mentioning them!

I too switched to Aeroflow because they will supply Bleep. I have been very happy with the company. I don't have to drive anywhere. They just mail me everything.

Thanks to all who responded to this question. Great information. I too am starting on Bleep and my DME doesn't carry them. I will be contacting Aeroflow.

thanks,

s.

Just thought of a question. Medicare typically pays for new headgear every 6 months and masks every 3 months.

How about the Bleep connector kit? Every 3 months or every 6 months?

thanks.

The connector kit counts as a "nasal mask without headgear" and the replacement allowance with Medicare is every 3 months for just the mask.
Headgear is always billed out separately.
Sometimes DMEs will tell people they can only get a new complete mask every 6 months because they know if they bill out the headgear at 3 months it will get disallowed. Headgear replacement allowance is 6 months.
The Bleep doesn't have headgear anyway.
The box of ports is counted like a nasal pillow replacement...2 per month...each box which contains 2 weeks worth of ports counts as 1 pillow.
In fact each box is billed out using either the nasal cushion code or the nasal pillow HCPCS code.

Thank you Pugsy. Very helpful information. I registered with AeroFlow. Will be nice to get away from my current DME that hasn't been all that great.
