I'm having trouble on exhalation

Post by apneyo » Wed May 05, 2021 4:24 am

hi guys, I'm not familiar with English, but I write this with an earnest heart.

I'm using a CPAP machine, but I think I still have an apnea on "exhalation".
I've been breathing through my mouth since I was young, so I couldn't break my habit even when I was using CPAP, so I cover my mouth with tape when I sleep.
So there's no breathing problem on inhalation, but the problem is that when i exhale, mouth and nose try to get out at the same time, then apnea occurs.

There should be no problem because anyone can exhale strongly with their mouth, but the problem is, I put tape on my mouth.
So my question is, is there a way I wouldn't have trouble breathing while taping. Or should i come up with totally another solution?

There may be help with exhaling, with a feature on many machines, but which model of what machine do you have and which mask? What are your pressure settings?

What are all the settings you are using on your machine?
Most people can exhale adequately through just their nose and don't need to involve the mouth at all.
It really depends on what pressure someone is using....how long they have been on cpap...and are they even using some form of exhale relief which would make it much easier to exhale through just the nose.

So we need more information to offer anything but a guess but lots of people exhale quite easily through just their nose.
A few people have a problem but it is normally fairly easy to fix.
