Do I need a new machine?

Post by BFRAN3 » Thu Apr 22, 2021 9:55 am

I have owned my So Clean for many years. In the past when I changed the filter there was a distinct ozone type smell with every use. When it stopped I changed the filter. I no longer get that smell and am wondering if there is something wrong with the machine or did SOCLEAN change the composition and the "smell" is no longer noticeable.

If it has been in your possession for many years how could they?

The same thing is wrong with it now as when it was new - it doesn't clean anything. No CPAP manufacturer recommends ozone cleaners, and their use may void your CPAP machine warranty.

That piece of crap RUINED your cpap machine, and voided any warranty.
You need a new cpap machine--and the ozone device goes in the dumpster, preferably destroyed.
Hopefully, you have learned your lesson.

Am I ever glad I wanted to look at message boards to research these before buying one for myself. The makers aren't going to advertise that the manufacturers of the CPAP devices don't want you to use anything but good old soap and water.

There is no way they could change the odor of ozone. Ozone does not clean, it may or may not kill some germs. However, it WILL cause damage to your lungs and damage some of the parts in your XPAP machine.

There is ONE way ozone generators don't last forever, it may be as the end of its life, a good thing for it's owner for sure! Jim

The ONLY function of a SoClean IS to produce ozone. READ UP on it, and how BAD it is, for your CPAP machine, AND health.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that. It's very damning to CPAP ozone cleaners and ultraviolet cleaners.
The FDA has received reports from patients experiencing cough, difficulty breathing, nasal irritation, headaches, asthma attacks and other breathing complaints when ozone gas-based products were used to clean, sanitize or disinfect CPAP devices and accessories. https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/saf ... chines-and
