Chills

Hello, I've been having some pretty bad chills for months now and recently I came across a forum where several people said they were having the same issues and believe it was caused by airflow/pressure from their CPAP mask causing hypothermia. So last night no mask, no chills. I'm wondering if there's a connection or if others have experienced the same thing?

I think this is probably what the original poster was referring to. When using an XPAP machine, you are either breathing in room temperature air, or slightly warmed air.

Or they've had a really mild case of Covid - chills are a symptom. Never heard of it being an OSA or Cpap thing.

Why not, CPAP gets blamed for everything under the sun.

Why not, CPAP gets blamed for everything under the sun.

People I've been having sever chills since early December. Read about others yesterday, didn't use my CPAP last night, no chills, plenty of snoring according to my wife, but no chills. I've been using CPAP for over a decade. My wife works at a hospital in the sleep lab. Just asking if others are having issues.

Each of those links includes a refutation of the idea that CPAP causes hypothermia or any kind of low body temperature.

In the first one, they are talking about truckers who are sleeping in temperatures below 40F. Anyone could get cold under such a condition, CPAP or not.

The CPAP machine cannot cool the air. The air you are feeling is your room air. If you are using the humidifier, the room air is slightly heated. If you feel the air is too cool, you can add a heated hose.

See your doctor.
Chills can be caused by any number of things, but cpap is not one of them.
Hate to see you letting something like possible cancer slide
because you read some nonsense on the internet.

All good responses and I've been seeing my doctor and being tested for thyroid, diabetes, lyme disease etc

I don't get the chills except when I use the cpap and it's not minor chills by any means. They're bad. Just looking if anyone else has issues.

Maybe they are caused but some underline whatever and the cpap use feeds into them being worse. Who knows. Just trying to figure it out. Hoping to find answers because not using the cpap really isn't an option.

So what is your ambient bedroom temperature at night?
What machine are you using?
What humidity setting?
Using a non heated hose or a heated hose and if a heated hose...at what temperature?
