If you use OSCAR, let us know what happens when you try to import the SD card into OSCAR! At the very least, it should report an unknown machine type. :)

For now Oscar 1.2.0 can’t find the data on the SD card for the DS2. It keeps asking to insert the cpap data card. Pointing to the directory doesn’t help.

If you would be willing to share a zip file of your SD card with us, we'll take a look at it. You are the first with a Dreamstation 2 that I know of. I think, but cannot be sure, that OSCAR will make a zip of your card even if it can't import from it. Use Help/Troubleshooting/Create ZIP of your data card. Upload the zip file to my Dropbox folder.

Thanks. I will pass the file on to the developer who supports Philips Respironics machines. I'll let you know what we find out.

Here is my review.

The Dreamstation 2 (DS2) is much smaller than the original. It will be a great travel advanced auto cpap machine in my opinion. I like the touch screen interface and updated menus on the new model. There is no SD card pre installed on the DS2 but you can easily place any basic SD card in the DS2 SD slot to save your data for external apps If desired. It’s not really needed for the DreamMapper app, you will just need to connect your phone via Bluetooth. As with the previous Dreamstation you may need to tweak some settings in the provider menu, this is of course something you should speak to your doctor about if you choose to do so. I think the water chamber is probably the most controversial part about the new model. It’s different but easy to remove, just follow the directions and practice removing and opening/closing the chamber and you will be pro. As for cleaning the water chamber just note there are potentially more areas where bacteria could form compared to the first Dreamstation due to the integrated design. If you clean daily like you should this shouldn’t be an issue. Water can get caught in the black cover lid when cleaning where you press down to release the water chamber, just air dry it. I do like how I can now clean the entire humidification chamber and lid. I’m not too concerned about the chamber because these are parts you should replace regularly anyway and with this model you can replace the entire chamber and lid. The Dreamstation 2 is backwards compatible with the 15mm Dreamstation heated tube but I’m looking forward to trying the new 12mm heated tube when available for purchase. Note that the model DSX520H11C sold comes with a regular 15mm tube even though the promotional photos show the heated tube. The compactness of the DS2 is a big step up over the first Dreamstation and that was important along with the updated interface and look to me. I’m only going to ding the Dreamstation 2 half a point and give it 4.5 out 5 only due to the water chamber design. I would highly recommend it especially if you want the most updated model that can be used for travel.

How do you access the provider menu so you can change pressures and other settings? Can these changes be made directly on the machine or do they have to be made through an app?

Hold the button down until flashing. While holding the button down swipe down on the touch screen.

Wonder how many centuries it will take before they have an ASV model of this.

Due for a new machine... might consider waiting.

I'm on the fence. I've had a PR System One 60 Series since July 2015, so I've been eligible for a new machine since last July but it's working fine and I didn't want to upgrade right before new machines release and have to look at all the new things they can do and feel left out. I could upgrade to a new DS2, or get an Airsense 10, or wait and hope the 11 arrives by summer or autumn....

When I was first diagnosed I didn't know enough to care which machine I received. But now reading everything it seems like ResMed gets much more praise.

The DS2 doesn't seem like it improves on the original all that much. More travel friendly, but that isn't really a concern for me. Quieter, but I have a white noise machine. The new tubing seems great, and a few other small things.

Hm.....

I'm wondering if it's going to improve on the algorithm for APAP or if it's just a smaller size. That being said OSCAR compatibility is going to be a major deciding factor as well between the DS2 and the S11 model

A new Resmed 11 is in the works as well.

Again, thank you for the zip of the SD card.

Could you make another zip of that card and upload it again? We'd like to see how the files change with more data in them.

If anyone else has a Dreamstation 2, we would like zip files of SD cards from other machines as well.

Unfortunately, Philips Respironics changed the way the data is stored on the SD card. That means an unknown amount of work will be required to figure out how to interpret the data. That will probably not happen quickly. So OSCAR does not support Dreamstation 2 now.

In the meantime, you will need to use Philips Resironics' Encore program to see detailed data from a Dreamstation 2.
