For years I have been using a rather firm thick cpap type pillow which is designed with a right angled edge for equipment to hang over the side like a mask or hose. I stuck with it even though I am using nasal pillows and a hose going up over my head because I figured a normal pillow might have me sink into it enough to cover the exit port, which sounds bad. I remember when I first started, trying to use a normal pillow, and bunching it up at the edge to try to get open air rather than pillow in front of my mask (I start off sleeping on my side).
However I get so many large leaks that I am wondering if the pillow's firmness is acting on the headgear in such a way that it pulls the nasal pillows out of position this way or that, causing leaks, as I thrash around.
I am curious whether active sleepers have found a better pillow type than the "cpap pillows". Would a thin soft pillow exert less pressure on the headgear/tug on it less? Or is the potential for burying the exit port a deal killer?

I move around in my sleep. I sleep on my side and on my back. My FFM is a Phillips Dreamwear (tube connects on top of head). After much research, I purchased a CPAPfit Pillow from
Pur-Sleep. This pillow is filled with buckwheat hulls and foam. I like it a lot! You can read about it at pur-sleep.com, and also on this forum.
