Too many Ahi with zero events

Post by mets123 » Mon Mar 29, 2021 8:05 am

I received a new resmed air curve vauto about three weeks ago when my old one died . It’s a very strange thing that I am getting zero events for three days in a row after getting several zero events the past few weeks. I have gotten the occasional zero AHI but never so many in a row or in such a short time. I remember reading that someone also posted this and was recommended to disconnect the unit from the outlet for sometime. I have tried this but hasn’t changed me getting zero events. Last night I had a really bad night with hip pain and I tossed and turned all night, this usually shows up the next morning with an ugly ahi but it showed zero events for the third day in a row. Could something be wrong with the unit, appreciate any help.

Are you getting this info off the display or in OSCAR?

Both, with Oscar and on the sleep report screen.

Yes. Get it replaced under warranty.

Try zooming in on your flow rate in Oscar until you have around 15 minutes visible on the graph, then scroll through the whole night. You should be able to see whether there are any pauses of 10 seconds or more.

Thanks Miss Emerita, I just did as you recommended and its very strange but I don't see any events on the days I have zero events.
I just fine it really weird that with my new unit that I have been using for 24 days that 12 of the days I have an AHI of 0.00. I have been on cpap for sometime and have never seen this, that's why I thought it could be my machine.

Is it possible that your old machine had lost some of it's ability to treat your apnea optimally?
The new machine is?
Doesn't seem likely. but?

Just throwing that out there. :)

Do you feel like you used to when you knew you were getting proper treatment?

Feel basically the same. Just a very strange situation.

Have you tried changing the pressures to see if it detects any?

Not sure what increasing the pressure would do if the current pressure settings show no events?

You find it strange that you don't see any events when you don't have events? hmm, puzzling.

You can, as suggested, zoom in and look at *EVERY BREATH* all night long.

If you don't see any places where you stopped breathing for more than 10 seconds, what do you want the machine to do, make something up?

It sounds like the resident egg-spurt was suggesting lowering your pressure, so you'd have less adequate treatment, just so you'd be happy at having a higher AHI. (why examine data when wild guesses are easier?)

It’s unusual, but it sounds like there’s nothing wrong with the machine. Maybe now is a good time to buy a lottery ticket!

Post a graph, this way we can see if there are indicators such as snores or flow limitations. We can also see if the machine is responding to them.

Post a comparative chart demonstrate the previous AirCurve, this way we can see if they were configured the same and what kind of events the old machine was having.
