Hi, bought Freedom Battery Kit in 2019 for my Airsense 10 with humidifier after long power outage in my first year of using CPAP. Understood the Battery kit would work with Resmed Airsense 10 although data shown said “with humidifier off” so thought I could do that as needed. Got full kit with 24 V converter. Next power outage today which will last some days and I discovered there is no way to turn the humidifier off and the Resmed site (Australia) says I must purchase a side cover and normal tubing to use the freedom batteries with it “safely” as using it with a non-Resmed converter is dangerous to the machine and the person using it! I feel misled by CPAP.com, out over $500 and knowing I can’t get anything sent for the next few days. Also confused as others talk about buying the two together.
Would appreciate any clarification and advice as how to proceed. Medicare has paid for everything EXCEPT these Freedom Batteries and I need to be thrifty. Love my CPAP and need it.
Thanks much!
Freezing in Texas, hope you are warm.

You can indeed turn the humidifier off and you don't have to use that end plate thingy to do it.
All you need to do is set the humidifier to 0 and be sure to turn off the heated hose (if you are using one) and if you aren't using a heated hose you don't have to do anything to the hose air temp.
You will likely have to set both the humidity setting and hose air temp to "manual" to get to the 0 settings though.

You will have to go into the clinical setup menu area though and do the secret handshake (combination of button pushing) to get there though. It's explained in the manual.
You can still use water in the water chamber though if you wish even with the humidity setting at 0 (Off) and get a little humidity when the air passes over the water. We call it passover humidity.
The heater to the water chamber plate to give you added moisture and the heated hose...those are the 2 power hungry features that dictate how long the battery will last.
You can turn off the heat to that heater plate...which effectively turns off the humidifier from delivering added moisture....and you can turn off the heated hose (if you are using one)....I have done it so I know it can be done.
And BRRRRRR.....I am in SW Missouri and it's frigging cold here.
Minus 10 degrees right now with a wind chill of minus 26...and more snow in the forecast.
My daughter is in Las Vegas...she complained today about the 50 mph wind gusts she was having and I told her I would trade her .....she didn't want to trade.

I always think of that picture of Siberian children, happily playing outdoors at 40 below.

I remember going outside with only tee shirt and cutoff shorts (and boots) when the temp got back up to zero F.
