Way to Reduce Loud Noise When Exhaling?

Post by Heggeg35 » Mon Feb 08, 2021 11:41 pm

I have a new ResMed AirSense 10, heated tubing, with an Airfit 20 full facemask, and whereas the machine itself is quiet as can be, the sound of rushing air when exhaling is so very distracting. I know you can't block the tube connector vents, but is there way to lessen that noise or am I simply stuck with it? Thank you.

The vents on some masks are noisier than others. What kind of mask do you use?

A lot of people end up creating diffusers to put over the vents. It can be as simple as cutting a CPAP filter and attaching it strategically to the vent. These help distribute the air more evenly and lower the noise.

My FFM mask's vented air was periodically hitting my pillow case making enough noise to wake me up. I got some microfleece and cut a piece as large as the top of my pillow case and put it on top of the pillowcase -- it works, muffles that sound so it no longer wakes me up.
