cleanzone cpap sanitizer safe?

Are these cleanzone cpap sanitizer things safe to use? I read that some of the ozone sanitzers are bad for the machines. Not sure how this one works... and if that applies.

If it's not an ultrasonic, it's not completely "safe".

And even then it's unnecessary.

All you need is soap and water.

When you see a device promoting "activated oxygen" that means ozone.
CleanZone states "activated oxygen". I just saw commercial for it last night.
Ozone can damage you machine, your masks and your lungs. I wouldn't have one in my house even if it were free.

Yeah... apparently I cannot read... it says ozone in at least two different places.

Even the name is a clue--"CleanZONE"

Because so many people have become germaphobes and people like Captain Kirk tell them they are killing themselves with filthy CPAP equipment.

I've had many discussions with people in other groups and when the FDA issue is presented, they scoff and claim the FDA doesn't know what they're talking about. If someone wants to believe something works, for them, it will work even without any factual evidence. The reasons they come up with for using these "cleaning" machines are comical. Most of the time they say either "it just works for me" or "I used to have (insert various ailments here), and since I've started using my "cleaning" machine, I'm cured". Of course, anecdotal proof is worthless.

It's a placebo effect, but it sells the product.

Yeah, I get the appeal. Just drop the mask in... turn the thing on and it cleans everything. it would be nice if it did work that way. I was gifted one of these for Christmas. Just wanted to check before using. I had found the FDA statement... I just didn't see this one said Ozone (It does clearly... I just overlooked it somehow.) I certainly won't be using it now that I know how it works.

don't take the nattering on about ozone cleaners personally. it's good that you've been convinced and you're moving on.

it's just that when it comes to these kinds of "cleaners", we want to make sure anyone else stumbling over this thread in the future understands it as well.

plus, sometimes when a question has been answered, us "old timers" like to keep the thread alive to entertain one another.

It is worth emphasizing the fact that that calling these rip off machines "cleaners" is nothing more than false advertising, since they completely lack the ability to CLEAN anything at all.
