Help with resmed s9 asv blower motor hours message
So... I've been using this resmed s9 asv for years with no issues. Just last night I got the message "blower motor hours exceeded. Please contact service provider" or something along those lines.
At this point I do not have medical insurance. I'd guess I'd want to think about replacement before this thing goes all out dead on me. I'd guess my best bet would be to buy a used one and set it up the way mine is.
I see second wind has some... And there's a member posted an s10 for sale recently.
Any advice is appreciated.
Oh, and I'm a cdl driver. So I do need a machine to stay employed... Not that I wouldn't use it, as I feel like garbage without it... But it's not an option to not have one for me...

Re: Help with resmed s9 asv blower motor hours message
That's the usual message after a certain number of blower hours has occurred.
It shouldn't affect the function of the machine or recording but I would for sure verify that it is still recording usage since you need confirmation of use for you CDL requirements.
As to chance of it failing...obviously it's a high hour machine but it might go 10 K more hours and it might quit tomorrow, next month or who knows. It's a risk with any machine really.
I would for sure accelerate plans to have a spare handy just in case. ASV...hard to find as they are scarce which of course drives the price up and they were expensive to start with. The AirCurve 10 ASV is essentially the newer version of your S9 Adapt with some new features that may or may not be important to you. Otherwise they didn't really change how the machine goes about doing it's job. They didn't change the algorithm.

Re: Help with resmed s9 asv blower motor hours message
Yeah. I've already looked at some used. A forum user here has one posted at a decent price with one run hour. So I'm considering that. I'd assume resmed doesn't offer a warranty in such a case. There are a few on second wind as well. Not sure the hours... But definitely an option I could afford.
What new options does the s10 provide? I'm guessing that night be something I'm interested in... Was concerned that they might have changed the algorithm with the new model. Good to hear that did not... Ah the s9 is perfect for me.

Ah. And does the s10 do the data the same way through as sd card etc? I have resmed installed and currently print my own compliance report for my cdl physical. I need to still have this option.
For that matter... If I do switch machines... How does that work for compliance? Do you just print separate reports from each machine from the time periods you have been using them?

My Resmed Aircurve 10 Vpap Auto works just fine on Rescan software, and Oscar with an SD card. You might have to purchase a SD card if you don't want to reuse the one in your S9.Nooblakahn wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:38 pmAh. And does the s10 do the data the same way through as sd card etc? The AirCurve 10 ASV does data a little differently to the SD card...it doesn't overwrite any data until the SD card is full and it doesn't care if your operating system writes a little text file to the SD card....so no need to write protect the SD card anymore.
The extra features are more in the comfort side of things I think...couple more options. I would have to compare the clinical manuals to see exactly what they are. I just can't remember exactly what they are but what I consider minor "fluff" anyway.
You can go here and request the manual and read for yourself.
https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual
Most likely your current version of ResScan should work (depending on how old it is) but if it isn't compatible...send me a PM and I will get you hooked up with version 5.9 which I know will work.
Don't go getting ResScan version 6.0...PITA from what I hear. Main complaint is they now added password crap to log in process and it's been problematic for a lot of people. The reports themselves weren't ever changed. Just like most ResScan updates...designed for DMEs and doctors. Nothing really new with the patient reports or data.
Actually there can sometimes be some warranty left on a used machine bought from a private individual but it's not easy to find out about.
ACBIO.com now does warranty work for ResMed machines and if there is any warranty left they can figure it out by using the machine serial number. Exact manufacture date is available by investigating the serial number by acbio.com or ResMed. I bought a used AirCurve 10 VAuto a while back. I checked with acbio.com and it still had 6 months of warranty available (long gone now of course).
So that 1 hour used machine...may or may not have some warranty left with it. Depends on how long it has been sitting on the shelf or in the closet.
For reporting...for compliance...ResScan will combine both machine's use for you. No need for separation...use the same profile as well.

Re: Help with resmed s9 asv blower motor hours message
No kidding? So even if I kept the old machine as a back up and used it to keep from packing mine up for vacation etc... It combines? That's awesome
I have at least 6.0 rescan.. mine has the password requirement. It uses your windows login. Was hot difficult for me to set up... But I could see how it could in some configurations.
What is the "oscar" your referred too?
And if course. Thanks for all the info

OSCAR https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph ... stallation
http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph ... rpretation
A bit more user friendly and faster than ResScan but you are an old hat using ResScan so probably no need to change unless you just want to. I use OSCAR mainly because it is faster and simpler but I do keep ResScan for storage and it does have my use with several ResMed machines under one profile name which is how I know it won't care about another machine. Heck, you could alternate nights with each machine and ResScan wouldn't care and it would combine the usage for you.
The doctor doing the CDL requirement physical stuff....most likely won't know about OSCAR or be familiar with it and you most likely will still need to supply the usual ResScan documentation.
OSCAR though...I can open ResScan and it's slow...and go open OSCAR and download and see my report before ResScan gets fully open.
ResScan gets used for data storage about every 4 to 6 months only because OSCAR might break...that's all.

Re: Help with resmed s9 asv blower motor hours message
Ah yeah. I used sleepy head my couple of years. It was much better, and also worked with the pulse oximeter I have if I remember right.
Honestly after the first year or two I didn't really bother as everything was going smooth enough... And just kept rescan for my compliance reports. I wouldn't dare use anything else with that. It shouldn't matter that I'm the one pulling the report, but why give them anything to question
I'll look at the feature set that was added in the s10. I remember considering it back when I was in Colorado and had Kaiser Permanente insurance. My yeah told me since the insurance was new to me... I would have been eligible for a new machine.
