Most of us no longer clean our hoses because we have realized it is unnecessary and OCD.
But do what makes you happy, because it matters to YOU.
How did everyone come to the conclusion that cleaning the hose is a waste of time? My CPAP supplier told me to clean it.

We reasoned it out, filtered airunder pressure keep the hose clean, so does rinsing of HH. Drying a container before filling it with distilled water fails to make sense also. K.I.S.S

DMEs often LIE in order to sell more product.
Some of them are completely full of ca-ca.
When they say "insurance says . . . "---ask your insurance!
Dealers count on that sucker born every minute--you don't need to be "that guy".
Let somebody else pay for that bass boat.

More BS.

Those five words should have been a huge clue. If you're listening to them, you're probably wasting a lot of your and your insurance provider's money.
Just like this thing with the motor in the old CPAP you're using to "dry" a hose. You could have bought a number of old CPAPs for hardly any money and had them for spares. Back in 2011, I bought two old REMstar Pro 2 machines from a CPAP dealer in Salt Lake City for $15.00 apiece and another $15.00 for shipping......they had lost some of their recording capabilities but are spot-on with regard to pressure output and work just fine for napping or just having for spares or spare parts. Outdated CPAPs are EVERYWHERE and can be picked up for little to nothing. Some people have found them in secondhand stores and paid like $20.00. One of the ones I frequently use came from a forum member who acquired it that way.......and was for all intents and purposes "brand new" (never used). I paid him much more than that, but he got it really cheap.

OK, thanks. Just read the following,
do you agree with this?..........Tubes develop small micro-holes over time that can lower the pressure and performance of your therapy. Tubes can also be hard to clean.
They need to be replaced about once every 3-6 months as bacteria and mold can build up in the hard to reach spots.
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
That's nonsense! Where did you read that? And, as has been previously commented on, the machines will compensate for the leaks. What's going to leak more.......air rushing out of your mouth (or mask seal) or a teeny tiny pinhole?
People need to use common sense with this therapy.

More nonsense designed to sell more products and fleece the insurance companies and users.
Regarding the bacteria and mold, you're exposed to far more of everything during the rest of the day when you're NOT hooked up to your CPAP. NOTHING can be carried out of the HH tank to you (bacteria and viruses are much larger than the water molecules in the heated humidity) and the more you "clean" this stuff, the more you're allowing the bacteria and viruses to enter the system.

So it's not at all possible for bacteria to build up in micro cracks in tubing?
NO! More OCD nonsense. Again, you're exposed to gazillion times more than that in the course of the day when not using CPAP therapy. Where are you coming up with this "micro cracks" nonsense?

FWIW...I haven't ever washed a hose and I have one that got retired after 25,000 hours of use and it still worked fine and it was a heated hose as well. It got retired because I got a new machine model and that hose simply no longer fit the newer models.
Even if I did wash the hose I wouldn't waste my time drying it with any machine. It's only going to get moist again when I use it and add humidified air at bedtime. Total overkill.
Now if someone is a serious germophobe and they sleep better going to all this extra effort...by all means go for it but it sure isn't medically needed.
That blog above...a lot is personal opinion and he copied a lot from various websites when he did the blog.
There is absolutely zero proof of what he says or how he came up with his opinions. He didn't even bother to give credit to the people he stole stuff from.
That blog...one person's opinion and you know what they say about opinions.....they are like you know whats and everyone has one.
The comment about those micro holes in the hose....total bull shit. That one is new to me and I thought I had seen it all.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

So it's not at all possible for bacteria to build up in micro cracks in tubing?
Why would it?
What nutrients exist within your CPAP tubing for the bacteria to thrive on?
Let's look at your CPAP drying.
You have this silly notion that a CPAP machine is somehow blowing contaminated, bacteria infested air into you tubing and then it's thriving. It's not, but you think it is.
So what do you do? You wash it. Then you dry it, by hooking it up to the same kind of machine that you think blows contaminated, bacteria infested air into it.

If it was true, the mold would seal up your make believe "Micro Cracks" that don't exist in the first place. Mold saves the day again!

I will flog the dead horse too. You don't need to clean the hose or dry it out.
