I'm looking for folks who managed problems with early awakening insomnia. I've had three surgeries to clear nasal congestion after I wasn't able to tolerate CPAP. I have diagnosed Apnea with an AHI around 15. I'm just starting to be able to breathe through my nose and have been working with a myofunctional sleep therapist for mouth exercises in addition to on-going support for a surgically implanted palatal expander.
The problem is that I still wake up too early around 6:30am (no matter how late I go to bed) and my sleep tracker, an Oura ring, shows that I get interrupted light sleep when I should be getting a solid chunk of REM in the last two hours of my sleep in the morning. So, I only end up sleeping about 5 hours when I should be sleeping 6-7. I can't back to bed, even though I fall alseep well but wake up tired.
Since my nasal passage opened, I've been getting more instances of more REM and been able to sleep longer. I'm curious if anyone has dealt with certain exercises or insomnia strategies for this kind of issue.
Thank you!

If you put 'insomnia' in the forum search bar you'll get lots of hits!

Re: Still have early awakening insomnia after surgery
Two things.
1. Have you optimized your CPAP therapy? Do you use OSCAR?
2. Diet, exercise, sleep hygiene - what are these like for you?
3. Please fill out your equipment profile.
