You've given us zero info to go on - what model of which machine (not just brand name plse) are you using?

At what pressure(s)?

What mask do you have?

Take any meds?

How long did you sleep (and what's normal for you)?

How do you feel otherwise?

Lightheadedness is not normal, but how long did it last?

Welcome, Viper 73, and congratulations on starting CPAP treatment. Everyone's first day is different; for some, it can be an anxious time, which could explain a feeling of lightheadedness.

As Julie says, it would be useful to get more information from you. There's lots of people here who would be happy to help you when they know more about your circumstances.

One little tip: try setting the machine up outside your bedroom and using it for an hour or two during the day or evening while you watch TV, use your devices, or read -- something mildly pleasant and distracting. This will accelerate your adaptation to this new experience, helping your mind and body get used to it.

I don’t have the lightheaded anymore.
But this is my story.

20 days ago I started to have sleep jerks or sleep myoclonus, I jerk around 20 to 50 times a night, that what cause my 9 days off insomnia, I became suicidal and I attempt suicide twice that when I told my wife to drive me to the mental hospital. The hospital put me on paxil 10mg and 0.5 clonazepam. I read that clonazepam help with the sleep jerks, but later on I found out that I have sleep apnea that also causes sleep jerks or high anxiety also causes sleep jerks so I don’t know which one cause my sleep jerks, Is sleep myoclonus or sleep Jerks the same as PLMD

I used to take paxil 20-30mg for 20 years stop on may, 2016
Ativan 1.5mg for 3 months stop on aug, 2016
zopiclone 15mg For 3 moths stop on aug, 2016
Prozac 10mg for 10 month stop may 2018.
Don’t take anything for 2018 to 2020
-Just put back on paxil 10mg aug 06, 2020 taking only 16days and quit cold turkey. Just stay on 0.5 mg of clonazepam aug, 06, 2020 and using CPAP machine on nov 20, 2020

I would want to talk to your MD again (or do some serious googing) to find out if any of those meds - and I know you're off most now - could (have) cause the myoclonus and just aren't out of your system yet. PLMD may be related, but I would want to talk to a neurologist and/or sleep med doctor about it all - esp. the clonazepam as you're still on it, rather than guessing... too much here for us to do that responsibly after all. Apnea doesn't cause 'jerks', though they may accompany it (PLMD or RLS) in people. This is mostly speculative here as we're definitely not doctors, though some here know a lot about those (K. Teague for one).

It will be important to separate your apnea from med effects and anxiety, but what we can do is help with general set-up of Cpap, etc. to make sure it's all working properly and is adjusted to you. If you have a copy of your test results it would help if you could post them here, and then (still in this thread plse) download Oscar and post the graphs, etc. it asks for (no calendar plse), so we can see what happens overnight and suggest possible tweaks if necessary. Also say how you felt that night, if you woke up overnight, etc. etc.

I went to 2 sleep clinic and both say when i sleep i don't have RLS or PLMD maybe because i take cloneazpam that day?

The first Sleep clinic test show that I have 23 sleep apnea episode per hr with out the CPAP machine.
The Second Sleep Clinic test show that I have 2.2 Sleep Apnea episode per hr with the Cpap machine on.
they say i have 2 central Sleep Apnea too.

Thanks, definitely helpful and nothing scary in it :) , though it will be interesting to see how you do in REM on Oscar.

Side fx of Clonazepam may cause some unsteadiness and poor coordination, etc., but jerking per se is not on the list... google it and see for yourself.

Do you use any street drugs, alcohol, etc?

You might want to read this:

https://www.drugs.com/clonazepam.html

Not that there ARE any clues in it, but in case there is some other bits of information that you may be able to derive from it.
I've been a longtime user of the Drugs.com website for finding worthwhile information about medications

Hello, Viper. Your experience with nine days of insomnia and then suicidal thoughts and actions sounds very scary. I'm glad you had your wife drive you to the hospital for care and treatment. I hope you will seek help early if you or she see things starting to go in a similar direction in the future.

I wonder whether you're in the in-between spot, where you got treatment in the hospital but not a lot of follow-up afterward. In any event, I warmly encourage you to make an appointment with your regular doctor to talk over your questions. He or she should be able to look at your records from the hospital and from the sleep lab and see what was going on in both those places.

I think your question about sleep jerks, myoclonus, and PLMD is a really excellent one. Please ask the doctor to explain whether these are the same or different and what you were specifically diagnosed with. If you would share that information here, we could learn from it. I'm not myself getting any clear idea about this from my trusted web sites.

You should also definitely talk with the doctor if you would like to consider stopping the clonazapam. That wouldn't be something you should do on your own. And if your dizziness/lightheadedness comes back, report it to your doctor. That may make a difference to how the doctor thinks you should proceed with clonazapam.

On the CPAP/apnea front: could you give us an update on how it's going? Anxiety about the experience at the outset is natural; are you finding that it is starting to abate, or is it still going strong? Are you sleeping all night with the machine? How are you feeling during the day?

And what is the make and model of the machine and mask you are using? Actually, if you could put that information in your profile, it'd be right there when anyone reads your posts.

Please keep us posted. There are a lot of people here who would like to help you.
