Transcend miniCPAP stopped working

My Transcend miniCPAP (original version) stopped working on a recent trip. I brought it in to my HME provider and it sat there for 3 weeks and they still couldn’t tell me when someone would look at it. I brought it home but I have no idea on how to even troubleshoot the issue.

It doesn’t flash any lights when I plug it into the power cord or the battery. The power cord charges the battery fine, but neither works with the machine. It was working fine one day on the trip and when I plugged it in at the Airbnb (we were ar a hotel the first night), nothing. I think maybe there is a problem with the power connection on the machine, but I can’t get into the electronic system to really check that. Any ideas?

Replace it.

Since I had nothing to lose, I took it apart. I found a battery inside that is soldered in. I wiggled it to try to get a better connection and when I plugged it in it powered up with the appropriate light flashes. I think I need to change the battery but I’m not sure. I don’t think I have the skills to remove and replace the battery. Any suggestions?

It sounds like a loose connection, probably solder. Look for cracks in solder.
If it is that, heating up the offending spot might melt it back together, without needing additional solder.
A light touch is best.

I checked the voltage on the battery and it is out of specifications. I’m going to try to replace it and see what happens. Unfortunately it’s not available locally and the $2 battery costs $8 to ship. Better than Amazon pricing AND Amazon refuses to ship the battery to my area of the country.

Final reply. I got the battery and failed to get it soldered in correctly. It’s now officially dead. I’m looking for a new or used replacement. Probably go with Transcend because I have the battery and solar panel. Contact me directly if you have a good deal.
