"About Nasal Prong CPAP Masks
Nasal prong masks are lightweight, non-restrictive, and form seals around both nostrils. They rest inside your nose and inflate slightly against the walls of the nostril to create a seal with pressure.
Wake-up red mark free
Ideal for back, side, or stomach sleepers
Lightweight and non-invasive"
Actually, I had seen a picture of another type of mask where there are just 2 tubes coming like a Y out of the hose, and glued is used to keep them in place. Don't have time to find it out again. Generally, all the masks I have tried which had nasal pillows entered the pillow a bit into the nostrils.

Re: Mask Differences -- Finding a New One
Nasal pillows all have little tips of the inner cone that barely reach inside the nostril but they don't ever touch anything inside your nostril and the pillow rim of nasal pillows rests gently against the outside of the nostril. Nothing really touches anything inside nostril.
If you have been wearing a nasal pillow mask and any part of it is up inside your nose so that you feel it then you have either been wearing the wrong size or you have the straps too tight.
Now the prong masks...those puppies go up inside the nostril and they touch the inside of the nostril quite a ways up the nose and they have to actually inflate INSIDE your nose to seal. Correct sizing is absolutely critical...too small and they won't seal and too big and it hurts like hell. There hasn't been a prong mask new to the market since I started cpap over 11 years ago.
And I did try one...that's how I know about the sizing. All those you see on the market...old design.
It's not a horrible mask unless you happen to be an in between size like I was. One size was too small and the very next size up was too big and hurt like hell. The tubing is stiff and awkward as well. Laying on it was like laying on a pvc pipe.

Re: Mask Differences -- Finding a New One
so, to answer my question, you don't really have an example of nasal pillows that puts tubes up your nose.

Have you tried the AirFit N30i? It's what I settled on after trying a dozen masks. I love that it is a nasal mask but that are no cushions and nothing over the bridge of my nose.

Yes, the noise from those side hoses drove me insane. I could NOT use it -- glad it works for you, though!openheartmama wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:50 pmHave you tried the AirFit N30i?
