Is there such a thing as a mask whore or junkie
I have two FF mask and a nasal mask yet I want to order a hybrid today...I have paid for all of them out of my own pocket. Am I becoming a mask junkie?

Well.. I am all for trying different masks!! My favorite mask for the past month or two has been the ComfortLite 2 that I traded with someone. (I had a medium ComfortFull 2 full face mask that I wasn't using..) I still have a ComfortFull 2 small mask, my ComfortCurve and a new Hybrid.
I think I'm done with trying new masks.

I think as far as masks are concerned, sleeping around is a good thing.
If one part of my face gets sore, another mask will shift the focus to
another area. At present time I have a head cold, so I am sleeping, if you can
call it that, with the full-face.
Hybrid = 67%
CL2/nasal pillows = 26%
CL2/Simple Cushion = 7%

Oh, I am so with you on on this. In the past 18 months I have tried the Ultra Mirage FFM, F&P FF431 & 432, the Oracle, Swift, Activa and Comfort Full. And that's just the one's I purchased. I have tried 6-8 more in the DME's office. My fav you ask? I think the Activa is the best designed, most comfortable mask out there. Unfortunately, I need a full-face mask of which the 431 is my favorite with the Ultra Mirage FFM a close second.
I really want to try a hybrid. Even though it has some pretty bad reviews, the Hans Rudolph FFM is intriguing. The concept of an all soft mask is cool. Maybe the Mojo Gel FFM, too; just to round things out, even though its reviews are pretty weak too. I just love trying them out.

so adding all these up, I imagine you've gone through over 20 masks in 18 months? That's typical.
Any bad reviews, for the most part, were related to the old headgear and getting a seal because of it. That problem was solved with their new headgear. it's super.
The hybrid also has higher leak rates than other masks (makes for easier breathing against high pressures) and works well with all the machines now.
I don't have one of the new "adaptive flow" hybrids, but if I used a resmed cpap I would probably order one.
Aptiva isn't a bad mask at all, but if you mouth leak at all, you gotta have a hybrid.

Oh yes you are Track! But to use politically correct verbage, please refer to yourself as an interface epicure, gourmand, aficionado, connoisseur, enthusiast, devotee, gastronome, fanatic, buff, hound, zealot, nut .... or maybe fiend.track wrote:I have two FF mask and a nasal mask yet I want to order a hybrid today...I have paid for all of them out of my own pocket. I'm pretty bad, I've tried nine masks in 6 weeks with all but one being out of pocket. On a positive note though I've finally found one that I can sleep for 6 hours plus with which is the ComfortCurve Nasal Interface - YAY me!
I'm not sure how I'll manage in the summer as I'm worried the cheek pads will get hot but as I've managed 6 hours plus every night for a solid week now, this mask is the best thing since sliced bread .

I have just started and I can see how the quest for the perfect mask can become an addiction. I started with the Tiarra Snapp-x and it was pretty good and not very invasive but I used my one time trade in to try the OptiLife Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask. I tried it at the DME and then came home and tried to catch a little nap wearing it. So far it seems like it might be fantastic! Keep your fingers crossed for me.
If I got the chance to try something else my first choice would be the comfort curve and also the Fisher Paykel 406.
So see, even as a newbie I am on the hunt!
