Oscar : can't import datas from folder

Post by ramsey1815 » Wed Oct 21, 2020 3:45 pm

Hello everyone,

One of my family member has a cpap machine (resmed airsense 10) since 1 year and wants to read the data saved on the sdcard. He didn't succeed because he need a software to read those file. I asked him to send me over the files to help him read those files. I came across SleepyHead and Oscar, but I can't import the data : those softwares are waiting for an sd card, but i don't have the cpap machine's sd card, only the files. I tried to put the folder where the files are stored, I put the root folder and went deep down at the same level of .edf and .crc files, but It doesn't import the files.
Can you help me ?

thank you

Maybe this could be a workaround. Buy a blank SD card and just transfer the files to it exactly as they would have been on the original SD card. Then it may work because OSCAR would then see a card! Not sure but it's the best I've got not knowing the inner workings of OSCAR!!!

1....exactly which model AirSense 10 does your friend have?

2...you can import to OSCAR from a folder but the folder has to contain a mirror image of the SD card contents. You just direct the import to the folder. I have done it. Have someone send me a zipped copy of their SD card and I unzip it to my desktop and then point the import to that unzipped folder and then I have their reports.

I, and anybody who who uses the FlashAir use OSCAR to read the data from files all the time.

As Pugsy stated files need to be in a folder exactly as they were laid out, on the SD Card. Either they aren't laid out properly, or some files are missing.

Have him zip the entire SD card again and resend it to you. You can then unzip it and import it into OSCAR.

boxofrain : I already tried that, but it doesnt work :(. Maybe the files aren't exactly as they were in the original SD Card like Pugsy and Dog Slobber are saying.

The file hierachy is :

"2020" (root folder) > "20200526" (folder) > plenty of folder (a folder for each day) > ".crc" and ".edf" files

C:\Users\username\Downloads\2020\20200526\20200101\ - 20200101_223856_CSL.crc
- 20200101_223856_CSL.edf
- 20200101_223856_EVE.crc
- 20200101_223903_BRP.crc
- 20200101_223903_PLD.crc
- 20200101_223903_SAD.crc

Can you show me an example of what the SD Card folder/files hierarchy should look like ? I'll try to explain him to zip the content from the root of the sd card.

I don't exactly know the reference of the CPAP machine "beside Resmed airsense 10", I'll ask him to be more specific.

thanks !

That's not necessary. Oscar will read the files out of a directory just as easily as it reads from a SD card.

There has to be a DATALOG folder with daily folders containing the machine data, a SETTINGS folder, Identification.crc file, identification.tgt file, and str.edf file. All of these files and folders exist on the SD card.

Your family member needs to send you the *complete* SD card file structure, what normally happens is something zips up some/all of the directories on the card, and misses some of the control files that are in the root directory of the card.

Oscar doesn't care where the data actually is when you run it, as long as it sees *all* the files that were on the card.

So, have them pop the card back in, and zip up the entire 'drive' that shows up in the file manager when they do that..

I have never been able to successfully recreate the files/folders needed for the software to work by piecing them together. Something seems to always be missing or out of order.

It is just easier to compress/copy the entire SD card contents in one step. Much easier on both the sender and receiver end.

Highlight the drive the SD card is in and don't go into the SD card contents....and compress the files and folders in one step.
Then send the compressed files to receiver...they unzip...you can leave it wherever you unzip it to and direct OSCAR to the folder it creates when you unzip it.

Ok I understand now. I should receive the complete structure tomorrow, I asked to zip the entire card and to not omit/remove anything ! + the exact reference of the machine.

Do you know if Oscar is compatible with all the resmed machines currently on the market ?

Thanks
