The old version worked fine (Win 10 Pro). The new version gives me s error code 5 Access denied
When does the error 5 occur? Are you using a new database and, if so, where is the database located?
I have never seen an error 5 before. I suggest you download a new copy from
http://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR and install again. Maybe something was corrupted?

What is the procedure for updating Oscar on my IMAC.? Are there specific steps I need to take? Thanks in advance.
Nothing special -- just install the new version. Installation guide for MacOS is
here.

My AVG antivirus program was blocking access because it didn't trust the Oscar program. Fixed it.

I apologize if this isn't the right place to post this.
Long story short, I'm trying to install OSCAR. My Mac laptop is very old (and would never run Sleepyhead), so I got an inexpensive Chromebook. Per the installation instructions, I checked to see what processor it has and I saw aarch64. Again, per instructions, I returned to the downloads page, but the installer I need, according to the installation instructions, isn't there.
Your original post on this thread listed changes and features in the recent update, including something about supporting amd processors only. So I'm thinking that the processor I have won't support the app I bought it for. This is unfortunate for me.
Any ideas how to make it work? I'll be looking into it as well, but it looks like you're the guy here who knows OSCAR.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

A Mac user here: I waited one month to download v1.2. Now that I had, everything

. Tip: If you have a Mac, you might have to readjust your Settings/Security to download and install v1.2.

Can you run Linux on it instead of Chrome OS?

@QueSera: Sorry, at this time the released versions of OSCAR support only Chromebooks with AMD and Intel processors.
If you up to compiling the code yourself, you might try installing QT for ARM64 processors, download OSCAR source from the gitlab repository, and build OSCAR in the Linux mode.
@rdfty: the problem is the processor, not the OS. OSCAR runs under ChromeOS' linux beta but we currently supply compiled code only for AMD and Intel processors.

Thanks, all. I appreciate the work that volunteers put into OSCAR (and the now unsupported Sleepyhead.) it's very disappointing that the manufacturers don't care much about the end-user, since they market to doctors, not us. A cross-platform app that reads all the data should come standard with every machine.
I'm out of luck for now, then. I'll check back from time to time.

Thanks to everyone involved with the Oscar project. I'm sure you know how important it is, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded once in a while. It's important!
Don't know what I'd do without it (and Sleepyhead before).

Try this from another user with this problem:
Control + Click should get you a context menu that opens (Right Click works for me also). From the context menu select Open. That should get OSCAR started. Then you may get a popup asking is you want to give OSCAR permission to access your files which you have to say yes too.
Also, take a look at the Mac installation Wiki for OSCAR at
http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph ... _Apple_Mac

I am trying to get OSCAR to work on my Linux laptop. I downloaded the one specifically for Linux. It will read from my cpap card but not my oximeter. It is a CMS50D+ (an older one) I choose the option (button) to download directly from device and choose my oximeter, but it can not recognize it. The link that says to look for the driver does not work. I think I found the driver on the Linux kernel site but have no clue how to install it in my laptop. (not even sure I should) Is there any advise you can give me to help me out?
I tried to send a PM to Bonjour but apparently I do not know how to work the PM's as it is just setting in the "outbox" an not actually sending.
ps - please do not tell me that you cannot download directly from the device (as one user has told me)..there would not (at least there shouldn't be) an option that specifically says to download directly from device if it was not possible
thanks in advance for any help

Private messages will sit in your outbox until they are opened and read by the person you sent the PM to.
So the fact that it is still in your outbox just means that the person hasn't been here and read his PMs. Eventually he will and then it will move over to your sent box.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

Thank you Pugsy, it has been years since I used a forum so I had forgotten that.
