SoClean vs Lumin as a sanitizer
SoClean vs Lumin as a sanitizer
I can see the arguments against SoClean but if one is looking for a sanitizer why is the Lumin not recommended as a good alternative by our gentle organizers.
I don't think anyone thinks of either of these machines as a cleaner but that is where they are categorized by the cpap merchants.
Myself, as a newbe, just want to make sure the germs are dead regardless of whose they are; I am sure that after I have a number of years under my mask, I will slack off the sanitizing, but presently, I just throw the mask and humidifier through the lumin every day.

Re: SoClean vs Lumin as a sanitizer
If I were in a position where I had to be extremely careful about germs....like some auto immune problem or something like that.
Or just an OCD germophobe...
I would use the Lumin or similar UV producing product.
UV light has long been used as a proven disinfectant and it won't hurt you unless you are stupid enough to look directly at it.
Products like the SoClean...they use ozone which is a poisonous gas and I am not comfortable having a poisonous gas going off in my bedroom.
Not to mention ozone is known to cause the foam in the cpap machines to fall apart and get into the water chamber and masks to get brittle and ugly yellow looking.
I can't see UV hurting me or my equipment but it's been proven that ozone can.

first, because it is NOT NECESSARY. The germs are your own germs.tyrinryan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 4:06 pmI can see the arguments against SoClean but if one is looking for a sanitizer why is the Lumin not recommended as a good alternative by our gentle organizers.

All you need is to use soap and water.
The lumin will just degrade the silicone and plastics.

I use a UV conditioner for my hearing aid.
No discoloration, no odor, no noise after the first hour.
My mother used ultraviolet light on our laundry for decades.
The good old-fashioned clothesline got it out there--sun and wind did the rest.
Even in the winter--ice is a very effective fabric softener.

Re: SoClean vs Lumin as a sanitizer
Caution with SoClean 2. I've had a Resmed 10 for over a year and recently it began making noises like a hospital ventilator. I carried it to my cpap provider and she explained that the problem was most likely caused by the ozone used by SoClean damaging the seals in the Resmed machine. The unit has been sent to Resmed for evaluation. If the unit has been damaged by the SoClean 2 it will not be covered under warranty.

But, the scammers at SoClean claim they will cover any damage caused by their scam. Good luck trying to collect from them.swampstalker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 9:07 amIf the unit has been damaged by the SoClean 2 it will not be covered under warranty.
