Also check Facebook Marketplace. I found my back up machine there.

thanks, guys. you might not know it because i keep it such a secret, but truth is, i'm a cheap guy.

so secondhand it will be if it is to be. took a quick look at secondwindcpap.com and saw the aircurve at $699 and $799 used. and new ones for around $1700 so it's a no brainer.

but will wait awhile on this and consider it more. i'm going to see how "cpap" mode settles in on the current machine. by jumping to straight pressure of 20, it's giving me a bit of aerophagia. this isn't a problem when sleeping prone. however, i haven't quite got to the point where i can sleep prone for the entire night. so i want to wait to see how this shakes out.

and while i kid about being cheap, this house deal has me a bit unsettled. i suppose we are what's called 'house poor" right now. it's nothing to fret about. i ran some numbers last night and we aren't in dire straits or anything. but my upbringing has me in it's clutches and i don't feel comfortable with a seven or eight hundred dollar purchase right now.

but it's good to know the option is there!

Tell LSAT to keep an eye out for an AirCurve 10 VAuto for you.
Since no rush....you can wait a bit. That's what I have done in the past and if he found something and I wasn't in a good place at the time to buy it then I just told him I would have to wait until the next one. Not long ago I sold my AutoSet that was my back up....so I sent LSAT a note and asked him to keep and eye out for me for another AirCurve 10 VAuto or another AutoSet just to be a back up machine.
He ended up finding both at the same time. I wasn't in a good place to buy the VAuto money wise at the time so I chose the AutoSet for Her he had found since it was cheaper. I knew he would sell the VAuto quickly....and I think it maybe lasted a day on the forum.

He is okay with that....if you aren't in a good place he knows he will still find a home for it and you can maybe do the next one.
Just tell him you aren't in any hurry and you need to save some pennies up first.

a wee bit of an update, with graphs. i think i know what my problem was. first lets look at my good ol' "for her" used as a cpap machine with fixed pressure at 20-20

pretty typical of what i was getting with cpap mode. i wasn't getting any lower numbers and wasn't happy. so we had discussed me going on to a higher pressure machine. me being cheap, i had to think it over.

in the meantime i decided to dial wing and see what would happen. results in next post.

i decided based on absolutely nothing, to set my "for her" at 18 min 20 max. let's watch the fun.

i know 3 shots aren't particularly representative, but trust me. MY AHI WAS VIRTUALLY THE SAME! how can that be if my minimum dropped by two whole points from 20 to 18? seems like there should be something different in my numbers, no?

so i decided to try something completely different.

i hook up my resperonics and give it a go.

you won't believe what happens next.

set my resperonics at min 18 and max of 20. let's take a look, shall we?

well, would you look at that?

and even someone as thick as me can see that there is something wrong with my beloved resmed. it HAS been noisier than usual over the course of the last two months. but it usually calms down by the middle of the night and i have a white noise generator.

it's gotten noisy enough that i can hear it through my white noise. also, intermittently i have to shut it off manually.

so, i've contacted acbio and a fedex truck s/b dropping of an empty box soon for me to send my "for her" in for repairs.

i'm so thankful that i found this place 5 1/2 years ago and have learned how to deal with stuff like this.

maybe another update when my repaired machine returns.
