cpap compliance for dot physical

Post by madwax » Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:50 pm

I just took a new job. it requires me to get a certificate of compliance for a dot physical. its not cdl driving but its required by the company. first time i have had to take one. however on the questionnaire it asked about my sleep apnea. i truthfully answered yes i have it. but i called the doc who prescribed it and they didnt really help trying to get anything. They said I needed something sent over the internet. Im not sure what they are asking. I haven't really been to a doctor in 2 or 3 years. I called a local doctor and tried explaining the issue. Apparently my machine isn't internet capable. They said it should have a memory card but there isn't one I can see. So does the machine store it internally or a way i can get it? My machine is a fisher paykel device if that helps

Contact the DOT.
Tell them the situation.
They should have a solution instead of a wild-@$$ guess.

All machines have hour counters built in which record "User Hours" and "Blower Hours" (or "Run Hours" in the case of ResMed and Fisher & Paykel). Your machine doesn't need to be "Internet capable".......most aren't. All they're interested in is your "compliance" with your therapy........at least 4 hours per night.

If we knew exactly which model you have, we might be able to offer some assistance. However, if you're needing to get some compliance forms filled out, they may need to be confirmed by your doctor or DME.......by taking the information from the machine.
