cpap use making my stomach bigger
I have been using a cflex machine for about a year. I swear it is making my stomach extend out. Someone else said this too. Can it be? And, what can I do about it?
It could be bloating from aerophagia (you can click on the "blue" aerophagia at the bottom of my post for a definition).
Have you tried using a different setting on cflex? Some of us turn it up, some down, and some off. Play with the different settings to find the best one for you.

I have noticed this too.
From the time I started PAP my waist line has increased by about 12 inches.
So now I know the mystery is solved.
The PAP did it!!!
All this time I thought it was the eating and lack of exercise.

I'm sure glad you found out XPAP caused this. I just thought my shoes had disappeared, come to find out XPAP was the reason I need a mirror to see them. I sure a my glad it's not my fault. JimKarein wrote:Actually, I have lost about 25 #'s, and, been doing a lot more exercise.
So there!! But, it is beginning to bother me, so I'd better check with my dr. If the dr. makes jokes, then I know that I've lost my mind!
I wonder if my chest got bigger because after the Quad-By-Pass, when they tied my chest back together, maybe they didn't pull it back together tight enough. Maybe they they left the rib spreader in me.

i've noticed this too and I think it's just bloating from all the air being blown in us all night long. For me it's my stomach and abdomen sticking out.
I've started making a conscious effort to do more ab exercises so that I tend to go around with my stomach pulled in.
You know it's bloating if it gets slightly better by the end of the day.

hybrid at pressure of 14

Yes I use my hybrid at that pressure. About a month ago I got a new respironics bipap auto M series machine to help me with my aerophagia.
The lower pressure on the exhale really helped the aerophagia. So I was able to crank the pressure back up to what I originally was titrated at (7-14). In addition, I was able to raise the bottom pressure (EPAP)up to 8 and tolerate that.
Interestingly, the past few nights I have had the lowest AHI I've every had (1.3 and 1.6) and both nights had zero leaks! So the hybrid does just fine at that pressure and I think the new hybrid headgear (plus PadACheeks) really keep the mask from leaking. Also the new headgear is so good that I dont' need to use my rubber band modification to angle the nasal pillows anymore either.
Go hybrid!!!
