Heck, next I will be wrapped up like a mummy to get a good therapy.
Seriously, whatever works. Crossing the ears might not be bad because it could muffle noises that awaken me. Don't know that I could tolerate the heat buildup.

It stays well on my head but other people have had slipping issues, so I'd say go with the one that Linda3032 listed.
It shouldn't need to be tight. If it's gonna work, it should work without causing you any discomfort.
