Yes, on the previously posted chart (reposted here), the high leak areas very likely could be opening your mouth.

Mouth taping is an option a lot of people use. As is a fullface mask.

To follow up on DS's post -- you might want to experiment by ordering a box of Somnifix strips. They're not cheap, but the adhesive holds well and is very gentle on the skin. If your leaking then goes down, you can try other, less expensive, tape, e.g., 3M micropore tape, perhaps with several overlapping layers.

Do be sure to purse your lips before you put the tape on.

So I noticed last night I had a dry mouth but also felt me drooling. I at one point felt my mouth open. My husband told me to tie a cloth where my mouth will closed to see if it solves anything. Would a full face mask fix this? I know they make chin straps but not sure I like the looks of that. They look very hot. Also seen where people tape their mouth. Is there anything on my charts that would possibly indicate if my mouth was open?
let me make a suggestion-

i've used jay's method for years and it works a treat. i avoid tape as i'm a full bearded fellow. i've made a few modifications in the rig, but it's basically the same.

maybe it will work for you?

Will be looking into this if what zonker has suggested doesn't work.

Reading through some threads on other sites. Is it common after your sleep study to not getting help? Husband had his done 20+ years ago and has been on his own since. What is a DME?

Far too common. I have never had a sleep doctor. My regular doctor referred me to a sleep study, where I met the sleep tech and had my overnight study. Results went to my doctor and included a recommendation. Fortunately, I had done some up-front research and knew to ask him to write specifically for an APAP.

Initially I had a DME (Durable Medical Equipmet provider) but they had a strictly profit motive. Fought me on the equipment, didn't care if the mask worked for me, and tried to scare me from reading my data. Luckily for me there was no compliance requirement, and I quickly cut them loose. That is how I found CPAP.COM, and this board as well.

I am a firm believer in being my own advocate. I trust and value my doctor's input, and have found a doctor that reciprocates. That does require firing them during the search...

it's one of the main reasons that this forum exists. i won't say EVERY doctor, but quite a few of them don't seem to understand just what, specifically. a cpap machine does.

they just seem to think that if they write a prescription and you get the machine, then hey, presto!, you are being treated.

and the provider thereof. not just for cpap supplies, but all kinds of medical devices.

I'm afraid that's what it would be down here. The lady at the sleep lab didn't seem like she wanted to even help give out information.

How do I remove the pie chart in oscar? I've went to appearances and didn't see the remove pie chart option.

i think you're looking really good! and better yet, your sleeping good. if'n' this were ME, i'd stay the course for a few more nights and let your brain and body settle in. post some more charts. if you want, wait a few nights and post them or each night if you wish. then we can have another lok to see if you need to raise your lower pressure some.

as to the dry mouth- try xylimelts. this is a wee lozenge that fits twixt tooth and cheek. it's slightly tacky so that it adheres to the tooth. it slowly dissolves overnight, promoting saliva.

find it in the oral health care section of grocery or drugstore (i know for certain it's carried at rite aid and cvs). or get it at amazon.

continued good luck!

Thank you. I thought they looked pretty good too. I'll sleep a couple more nights then post some charts.

I've never had a problem with dry mouth before the cpap. Not a big issue will look for what you recommend. Won't hurt to try it.
