I have a couple of APC battery backup units that are unused. One is an APC ES 725 VA Rating: 725 VA
Wattage: 450 watts and the other is an APC ES 550 VA Rating: 550 VA
Wattage: 330 watts
Could these be used to provide backup power to the Airsense 10 Autoset? If so, approximately how long do you think it would run? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Resmed S10 battery backup question
UPSs make terrible battery backups for CPAP
According to the ResMed battery guide:
https://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents ... lo_eng.pdf
The absolute minimum capacity for an AirSense 10 at only 6cm pressure, slimline hose, no humidity is 9AH. And this is using the considerably more efficient DC-DC converter.
How long will it last? I don't know for sure. But in more real world continues (higher pressure and AC), even without humidity and a heated hose, I doubt you will get any more than a couple hours.
Charge it up, turn off Autostart, create a simulation by placing your mask around a pillow, and run it.
- They don't have a DC output option, leaving only AC, so right off the bat you're losing about 40% efficiency
- They often have an alarm beep, that can't be disabled so you need to listen to beeping

Hi Dog,
Thanks for the reply. Just trying to get some use out of these UPS units.

I agree that a UPS makes a poor choice for cpap power backup. I think you are better served to build your own backup battery. Or if you are not handy just buy a jump starter and the DC power cord for your cpap make/model.
Whatever you do, to figure out how long it will last - use it. Use it while you are sleeping with it on a weekend or sometime before you will need it.
