Hello everyone,
I’ve been using the CPAP for a week now, and I check my numbers everyday on the portal for my res med machine. On Monday I had 3.5 events per hour, Tuesday 3.5, Wednesday 1.9, but last night 18.9. I also noticed that I lost 2 points for my mask fit. It did say that mask fit was good, but instead of the 20 points I’ve been getting for the past week(20 is the maximum points in the grading) I got 18 for last night. I did clean my head gear and hoses yesterday, so could it actually be an inaccurate read due to my headgear not being adjusted correctly?

Re: Fluctuation in events
Did you spend much time awake with the mask and machine on last night? If so that likely explains the high numbers.
The machine only measures air flow. It has not idea if you are asleep or not and if you spent much time awake fiddling with things then the machine mistakes the irregularities of normal awake breathing for some sort of apnea irregularity and you get what I call a false positive flag. When we see a lot of these we call them SWJ or sleep/wake/junk...events flagged only matter if we are asleep. If not asleep they have to be mentally tossed out of the evaluation process.
If you were to use the available software you could see when they got flagged and maybe compare with known awake time.
Do you know about the software?

If you spent a lot of time with mask and machine on fiddling with the mask getting it adjusted...I bet the bulk of your flagged events were flagged during that awake time.
