Yes, they will "throttle" air flow through the lips. The one I had did have a "slot" in front between the teeth, maybe 3/8" wide and less than 1/16" tall, but pretty easy to cover that with the tongue. It was effective at holding the mouth closed reasonably well, at least for me.

However, be aware that my teeth ached every morning after wearing it. I sleep on my side, jaw wants to move down a bit towards the pillow, mouthpiece holds jaw up, teeth are holding mouthpiece up, thus the ache. I also drooled a bit with it in my mouth. Were I a back sleeper, might have been better. I tossed it after about a week.
ah, i see. makes sense and not something i would've thought of.

i wear a firm foam cervical collar to bed. i'm hoping that it will counteract that downward droop of the jaw.
Ok, and I've done (and still have) collars myself, as well as chin straps. There comes a time when you have to think about the confinement of everything you're wearing on your head to avoid the confinement of a FFM, as each and every piece is confinement of one sort or another.

oh, i understand your point completely.

but i don't share it. chasing the leaks of nasal and full face mask was too much for me. i'm a full bearded fellow and i refuse to shave it in order to accomodate the wearing of a mask.

yes, i'll go through some hoops in order to wear my p10. i don't have the picture to hand. maybe dog slobber will be by with my original pic that he likes to monkey with. but i use this method-

viewtopic/p1089718/viewtopic.php?f=1&t= ... s#p1086296

which i have used religiously for years. this, with a cervical collar, gets me a one of month average ahi of 0.65 and a one year average ahi of 0.83. at least, this is what oscar tells me. i'm quite satisfied with it.

to me. it's well worth the "confinement of everything you're wearing on your head to avoid the confinement of a FFM" thank you very much.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

tried one last night. not satisfied with the results. it DID have a bit of covering for my slight gap.

but wearing it wasn't conducive to good sleep. it wasn't that it was uncomfortable. it was more like i was aware of it being there. kind of like being aware of a cpap mask when you first start out.

and while wearing a mask is something i had to get used to, i don't feel up to the task of disturbed sleep to get used to this "device".

so, hard pass.
