From experience, there is nothing better for narrow passages than a little air pressure .
Yep. On the days I have a little nasal congestion, pillows inflating my nostrils feel good all night long.

I use a resmed AirFit p10 nasal pillow mask with no issues. Perhaps there’s a difference between a male nose and female nose.

Unfortunately, for me this sensation is rather unpleasant and keeps waking me up when I manage to doze off :(

Guess you're just going to have to move to a full face mask, or even a total face mask.

You need to stop creating reasons to fail.
  • Nose inflating too much
  • Suffocating because of power failure
  • Cartilage becoming deformed
  • Nasal passages collapsing
  • Nasty chemicals
  • Something going wrong in surgery
There is no point responding to your questions. You disregard the answers and dwell on unfounded consequences.

You're being put on CPAP for a reason, thus far CPAP is the gold standard for treating sleep apnea. If you want to dwell on something, spend time looking at the consequences of untreated sleep apnea. That's real.

Or just ask your doctor to refer you to a surgeon to give you a tracheostomy.
(US surgeons are somewhat adverse--you might get it in Tijuana . . . )
No more cpap--then you get to worry about infection--not our problem.

Well, I guess I'm sorry for asking for help resolving those worries.

Forgot to include passive aggressiveness on the list.

Sleep Apnea is a real thing, and you're creating roadblocks for yourself.

Lucy somewhere will be along to chastise you for how you're posting, unless she's just totally biased,(and we know she is).

Actually, looking at Lucy's chastising history, she's more likely to chastise you, because of what I posted.

In the "boob search" topic, it was clearly my post that set the OP off. Although not until you explained to him that the post *might* have been mocking him.

Lucy's criteria for chastising:
  • Does the topic contain anything that *might* be loosely interpreted as criticism or bluntness?
  • Has palerider posted anywhere in the topic (doesn't matter if someone else made the critical or blunt post)?
Chastise palerider.

Sylvanas,

I have only been on apap for six months now, so I am certainly not among the experienced users here, but I think you are just having normal adjustment problems, plus a good deal of anxiety. It takes a while for most people to get used to having a mask strapped to their face and to having a stream of air shooting up their nose. It might help to focus on what you can learn and do to make your therapy the best it can be. Focusing on every odd sensation you feel or read about will just drive you nuts and keep your anxiety at high levels.

Modern Pap machines and masks are well designed to control apnea, and they do a good, safe job of doing exactly that. There is nothing to fear from them or to worry about. If you have not done so yet, sign up for OSCAR and you can watch your therapy day by day. It's kind of fun to watch and try to figure out, and it might calm you down some. Anyway, best of luck with your new much more healthy sleeping!

Technically, I have UARs, not Apnea, and I'm very much aware of how real it is:( I was hoping for CPAP to be a quick solution, instead I'm unable to sleep with it, which is frustrating.

The amusing thing is that I couldn't possibly care less what she thinks.... actually, if she's whining at me, I figure that I'm doing something right. :)
