I would happily trade problems with you.
I cannot hear any weird machine noise because it is drowned out by my tinnitus--

Rotten locusts-- they sound so close, but my tongue can never reach one.

Froggy. We've got something in common there. I have tinnitus too, AND it also sounds like locusts, with one locust a bit higher-pitched than the rest. It gets worse after I drive for hours, and I mainly notice it at night or any time it's really quiet. I'm pretty used to it, though, because I've had it since I was born...or ever since I can remember, anyway Funny story....I actually used to think that everyone could hear that noise. Just like everyone can see the sky, I thought the noise was something in the atmosphere that everyone could hear. One day, when I was about 7 years old, someone in my family said to me, "Isn't it quiet?", and I said, "Yes. But it's never REALLY quiet, is it?", believing this was just a fact of life.

They looked at me strangely, and told me that, yes, it often was REALLY quiet, so I asked about the locust noise, and found out then that not everyone can hear it. That was an eye-opener for me! It was about another 10 years before I found out it had a name. I love frogs, by the way. I love all animals, but I think frogs are super-cute. Love your profile pic.
