Why have my AHI's been increasing recently?
Why have my AHI's been increasing recently?
I have Sleep Apnea caused by a narrow airway (even when I was in high school and only 120lbs at 5'7 inches I was experiencing symptoms). I was diagnosed about a year ago. I've noticed that my AHI's have been increasing recently and I don't feel like I'm getting the benefits of my sleep machine. When I first did the sleep test with the mask, I got such amazing sleep; like the first time in my life I had gotten such good sleep. But since then, it hasn't been that good. For example: last night my AHI's were 6.4 after sleeping 4.59 hours. 90% pressure was 9.4 (my max pressure it 10), ramp is on, the mask fit is 100% with 2 disconnects last night and no large leaks. I'm experiencing 10 total clear airway apneas, 1 total obstructive apneas, and 21 total hypopneas. My husband is a very light sleeper and he wakes up at the drop of a hat when he notices I'm snoring to wake me up and reposition me on my back. He told me last night I wasn't snoring at all, nor was I tossing and turning (which is what I do when I'm not getting good sleep). Any suggestion? I'm of course going to go to my doctor ASAP to talk to her about my concerns, but I wanted to know if there are any other suggestions to help me out for now. My chest was sore last night and that really scares me.

welcome to the zoo!
in order to give you any meaningful advice, the experts here are going to need some more information from you. why? because we don't all have the same machine or mask or combination thereof. please take a moment to fill out your equipment profile. once you do that, it will appear under each of your posts, as mine does below.
speaking of down below, please see some links. one will give even more info on what is needed from you. the other is a link to oscar, which is a free software program, designed to get data on your sleep apnea. that data is important and will give a clue as to how to go about improving your therapy.
it's all very complex, but you can do this. we've all been there and have had help along the way.
good luck!

Re: Why have my AHI's been increasing recently?
If your AHI is increasing and you are snoring, you most likely need an increase in minimum pressure. Down load the Oscar software and show us some data.
