Phillips Respironics System One knob
Phillips Respironics System One knob
New to the forum, been using a CPAP since 2002, now using a Philips Respironics System One. I call it my dream machine.
Recently the control knob broke, but I designed a replacement that I can make using my 3D printer. Works great, much cheaper than on eBay. Who knows, maybe I can print my own CPAP machine.
Re: Phillips Respironics System One knob
I broke mine as well, though I was able to glue the parts back together and that worked. I bought a replacement anyway. If you did not know, that part is available easily, including the forum sponsor (ie, http://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-cpap-machine-knob-ui.
Unless you count the cost of the printer, I'm sure you saved quite a bit!

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.

The printer is just like any other tool, the cost is divided among many other projects, some money-making, some not. Eventually it is depreciated. With filament and power the knob cost me about a buck.

Yep ... I was being a little silly. I have a 3d printer as well (currently unable to use it due to lack of space) ... as well as a small CNC. Very much in to the maker community stuff.

Re: Phillips Respironics System One knob
I had an occasion to need to replace a couple of those System One knobs a while back. Got a couple of donated machines that had broken knobs that I simply couldn't repair and the machines were Auto BiPaps with low hours...I had to get them working (beyond needle nose pliers) before they went to their forever homes.
Those 3 D printers are nice but alas I don't have one and really can't find any other reason to justify the expense and I didn't know anyone at the time who had one that I could use so buying a couple of knobs from cpap.com was my best option.
So for folks like me....sometimes just buying the knob is the most cost effective option.

Re: Phillips Respironics System One knob
I can make a bunch of them in one evening. If you need one, let me know. Paypal me postage + a buck or two and I can mail you one. Currently I can make them white, purple, yellow, gold, black and natural (no color in the filament). PM if you need one or more. The catch is that for one order all the knobs have to be the same color, otherwise I have to factor in my time to change filaments, etc.
