Hi Everyone,
Before I start I want to mention my equipment. Airsense 10 autoset with resmed nasal pillows medium.
Here is my story, I came to the US five years ago. I have been told I have been having loud snoring episodes. I would wake up feeling my head hurts and vibrating and I guessed it was snoring. Then I would wake up many times during night to choking. My life was complete hell I would be sleepy all day and kept at it for 3 years until I decided to do something about it. I went in for sleep study and I was diagnosed with severe obstructive apnea around last December. I was immediately issued the cpap.
I started using the cpap since last December around 21 days out of 30 and only last 2 months 29 out of 30. At first cpap was incredible, once my eyes open I literally run out of bed and I felt incredible. But slowly I have noticed that this feeling started to fade. I would feel incredible still when my eyes open but once the mask was off, I immediately feel that somehow my head becomes lighter and i wanna sleep again. Then things start getting slightly worse. I still sleep the full 8 hours uninterrupted so sleep quality is better. But when I wake up take off the mask my head feels lighter again, my body is not fatigued but the weird feeling is I can tell that my brain feels confused if its sleepy or not. This is the part I cant understand because my brain cant decide if its sleepy or not if I allow myself I would find myself sleeping on couch I have to put extra effort to will myself to function which makes me unproductive. Is this normal? Is cpap treatment not working and what does it mean that my head/brain feels fatigued and confused while physically I feel well rested if that makes sense.
My apnea per resmed is always 3 or less and no leaks reported by machine and sleep score high 90s to 100s on days I feel that.
I am willing to give more details, thanks everyone for reading through
Cpap user 6 month fatigue question
Re: Cpap user 6 month fatigue question
Hi... well, have you recently gained even a small amount of weight? It's amazing how little it takes to make a difference and therefore need maybe a slightly higher min. pressure setting. But if that's not the case, have you started on some new meds recently? Again, they can affect sleep without you realizing it.
Otherwise, please download (free) Oscar software - see the first note at the top of the page - and follow instructions to post here (which graphs, no calendar please, etc. etc.) and stick to this thread. Then we can see what's been going on and advise if something should be changed.
It's not uncommon for something like this to happen and is usually fixed up with a little help.

Re: Cpap user 6 month fatigue question
How many hours of sleep are you getting?
Do you wake often during the night? If so, why?
Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?
Post a detailed software daily report from a typical night in the format discussed in this thread.
