I know how difficult and frustrating it can be to start using a CPAP. I wanted to post my results from when I started until now to show (at least in my case) how long it can take to get results. For about the first six weeks, I had trouble sleeping with it, and when I did, it didn't seem to do much. I tried different things, machine settings etc, but the big hurdle was just getting comfortable sleeping with it. It takes time. Eventually I added a chin strap which seemed to help (it's just a homemade elastic 1" band). I'm using a full face mask, which is probably a little hard to get used to than some other types. In my case, I was not symptomatic in a lot of the usual ways (daytime fatigue, etc.), but at least I no longer snore for which my wife is grateful.

When I started I didn't have any guidance from a specialist or doctor. I just did the sleep study, and they mailed me the device. I thought using it would be straightforward; it's not. Eventually, I found my way here and got a lot of good advice, so thanks for that.

So, if you are just starting and having some trouble, perhaps this will offer some encouragement to keep working at it. Good luck!
