OT...Gas Cheaper than water?

Some stations in the SE corner of WI are selling gas for 89¢ - 99¢
If you can't find Distilled Water......

That's the only way we will be able to keep them from adding water to gasohol! Soon some Wildcatters will be fracking, for Drinking Water by pumping gas into the ground to get our water back. Jim

Eh Gas is around $2.40 in my area of California and that's "cheap" here. Distilled water still cheaper than our cheap gas. *sighs*

All though, you can get gas pretty cheap at Taco Bell

$1.39 in GA. I haven't seen it this low in almost 30 years.
It's not just the pandemic that's causing this. Apparently there's an opec/russia thing.
And now, oil in the US has hit about $-40/barrel. (Negative forty dollars. They're paying distributors to take it.)

When I got my first car in 1964, a 1955 Studebaker Commander 2 Door, gas was 16.9 cents a gallon, and if you bought 10 gallons they gave you your choice of a gold rimmed dinner plate, or cup, or saucer. Part of that 16.9 was federal and state taxes. I was working as a Car Hop @ 50 cents a hour plus Tips, we didn't use roller skates, but we did wear a White Uniform.

That's back when inflation wasn't a factor, altho most Americans don't even have a clue with what's happening with the value, of their money. Nowadays, overtime is for printing money with nothing behind it, it banks should give packets of wallpaper paste with each withdraw. Jim

There's one other factor we're not taking into consideration. This isn't America turning into Venezuela. Every other country is also affected by this crisis. We'll likely end up having to pull together world-wide to make it through this mess. I think we can do it. And I think banks have had their wake-up call.

There's one other factor we're not taking into consideration. This isn't America turning into Venezuela. Every other country is also affected by this crisis. We'll likely end up having to pull together world-wide to make it through this mess. I think we can do it. And I think banks have had their wake-up call.

For the people on a fixed income. Worry is appropriate. Maybe deep concern, perturbation,unease, or anxiety?

True... I wish I had an answer. Fear and anxiety won't help what cannot be changed. If possible, try not to worry.
I'm pretty sure in order to stop mass rioting, they're going to have to institute Universal Basic Income (UBI).

What I don't get, if I was pumping crude oil, and the market didn't support my costs to produce it, I would stop pumping it. Seems pretty simple to me. I'm a retired mechanic, if people had stopped paying me to fix things, I'd find something else to do to feed my family, what ever it took. Life requires Oil, but it doesn't have to be my oil, and in time all things change. Jim

The processing probably takes time to shut down. Like so many big things, it's not a like a light switch. Apparently the Saudi/Russian price war has been negotiated already. Oil production is in the process of stopping/slowing. It's just going to take a month for things to balance out.

Must admit... I've thought about using gas the last few weeks. Might be a nice change. I mean really... what is the worst that can happen?

I worked my last 20 years for a Surface Coal Mine, that produced steam coal for electric power, we had contracts with the electric companies and spot markets, lots of ups and downs, but our worst fear was Gov Regs, they wanted the power,but they wanted it not to have any downsides, all progress has downsides.

They never had any problems telling us to go home, one time Go Home lasted 5 years. I still kept my family fed and safe from the Wolf, (Sorry Den, not you, you are welcome). Jim

Sometimes we would get some warning CORP had a Black Chopper, it would land at the mine, in 3 days the mine would close. I think it was Black so it wouldn't be shot at.
