you might want to check out clinicaltrials.gov. I got there through a general search of "sleep apnea" on nih.gov. There are quite a few studies that are going on, not even sure if any of them would help you, but you may be able to find some leads for research that is ongoing. You may be able to call up the researchers and just ask them questions and who they would refer you to. A lot of times researchers like to talk about their work to whoever will listen.

If you're contemplating MMA-GA for OSA, I'd be considering Stanford in California.
I am going to Stanford and I love it. Its so much better than my local doctors who wouldnt believe I have OSA. Both Stanford dr's recognized my OSA and finally proved it. They claim to be the home of cpaps or something. I got seen by an intern who was very thorough and caring and his work was reviewed by a senior dr on the spot.

And they have a nice cafeteria and the weather is good.

Opps sorry I forgot to update my profile. That was *before* the nasal problems started. I've been having nights quite regularly of 10-30 minutes of time in apnea. Thats not good...

I never really understood the many patients who would go to a particular doctor or clinic and report that Dr K is the best in the city, southeast, or nation.
The same thing for a particular clinic or hospital.

If a person goes to a witch doctor who comes up with the proper diagnosis and treatment, then the person has found the answer.

There are good and bad docs in the worst and best clinics.
As a pharmacist, I have seen many examples of careless docs in the ivory towers.

There is no such thing as "the best". Sometimes the mega clinics overlook the patient while conforming to the established protocols.

Patients do not realize that in many, if not most, cases, the best way for a resident to advance the fastest is to conform to that protocol. They dare not think out of the box. No WAY.

I could write volumes about docs daring not vary from the recipe for a patient. Not prudent.

If a patient has a very complex problem that has defied a definitive diagnosis, then go for more tests at the Mayo etc. but so not expect anything that a good competent doc in his/her specialty can provide.

NEVER underestimate the EFFICIENCY of Mayo Clinic! They can get done, with the latest and greatest in equipment, in a matter of days what it would take MONTHS to get done locally. It can take weeks and months to get in with a local specialist in just about any field, especailly for an initial office call and exam. Then getting tests done one at a time, then the waiting days or even weeks for results and the next consult. Once you have your initial office call w/a Mayo physician you are on a whirlwind of testing yet the same day unless your appointment is very late in the afternoon. Mayo is the EPITOME of efficiency!

I can't speak for the last years or so but GREAT STRESS was always put on the physicians at Mayo to develop good patient skills, good communication skills, to develop caring and concern for their patients, to see to it that the patients understood their condition and the recommendations made.
