Hi,
I just received my Resmed Mini with p10 nose pillow. Tried to use it for the first time(first time any cpap) and although it was comfy and worked well, I felt it had a lot of pressure and as soon as I would fall asleep, my mouth would open and it'd be like a vacvum pushing air our of my mouth and I wake up.
Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if I need something like the F30 face mask since my mouth opens?
Thoughts?
Also, is there a way for me to leave the pressure at a certain level or block it from going too high? I read something about pressure relief but doesn't say how to enable it.
Thanks?
Resmed Mini with p10 — pressure and mouth opened
Re: Resmed Mini with p10 — pressure and mouth opened
If you can't learn to keep the mouth closed then you will need a full face mask so that therapy pressure doesn't go out the mouth before it makes it down to your airway.
So a lot depends on just how much mouth opening you do. Is it once a night or all night long?
Are you having any nasal congestion that might be causing the mouth to think it needs to open?
A chin strap might help if all you need is a gentle reminder to keep the mouth closed. Some people resort to taping their lips closed because they simply don't want to go down the full face mask road.
You can go here and request the clinical/provider manual which should explain the various features of the machine to you.
It's more comprehensive than the typical user manual.

here is something that has helped me tremendously with my p10-

while i've modified jay's rig somewhat and i use a firm foam cervical collar, this is one of the best things i've learned in my cpap journey. keeps the lips together and the jaw up.
good luck!
