New User - Nose irritation

Post by Jdeuel » Mon Mar 30, 2020 9:19 pm

Hey all...

New to CPAP therapy. Been using my machine for about a week now. My biggest complaint is my nose is getting irritated. I have the AirFit N30i Nasal mask.

The irritation is around the nasal openings...like around the curves. I've seen pads you can buy but I'm not sure if that would address the issue as is not really the bridge of the nose.

Any suggestions?

I had the same mask, but found that my nose hurt too. I got the P30i nasal cushion, which is made for and fits your frame, and found it way, way more confortable. We're all different, but maybe it would help you too.

Do you have the right size cushion and is the mask not too tight? I have the same problem with nasal masks, I like them but many irritate like underneath my nose. I have had good luck with the Airfit N30 not irritating my nose too much, it is similar to the Airfit P10 nasal pillows but it is a nasal mask.

I agree with Deborah K. (New user here - 1.5 months on CPAP.) I switch back and forth between the two cushions depending upon how my nose feels. My DME sent both on my first reorder and I thought it was a mistake. Turned out to be a bonus!

Also found the suggestion of saline spray prior to nightly masking (Pugsy?) helpful. And using Flonase spray too (use both am and pm) (Ms. Emeritus?)

The nasal cushion leaks more but after my interior nasal rim heals I go back to the nasal pillows. I plan to order one of each for my next month.
(Award 1 quality pt for my DME who is deep in the negative. Creative accounting...feel certain there is a thread for that too so no response needed.)

PS Trolling through cpaptalk.com has been very helpful.Thank you all.
