Design Change needed across the board

Post by D.H. » Fri Mar 27, 2020 11:09 am

This epidemic has taught us that all exhalation ports need to be fitted with an anti-viral/anti-bacterial filter.

It's not just Covid-19, it's all germs and viruses. You certainly don't want to spread even an ordinary cold or flu.

Actually, no. This virus hasn't taught us that at all.

D.H. has failed to consider the fact that such a filter would SEVERELY restrict airflow.
This would produce excessive resistance to exhalation--like UARS.
Not a pleasant way to die . . .
I would volunteer D.H. to try it first--since it was his idea.

I can't speak for COVID 19, but I can for regular colds and flus. When I have had a cold and flu and even pneumonia I have not passed it along to my husband. Before XPAP and after - no transmission to him or him to me (he's not on XPAP).

We don't know enough about COVID 19 yet to know why it is as contagious as it is ...... perhaps it is no more contagious than the usual flu but the lack of immunity is responsible for the numbers affected. Who knows ..... at this point very few or nobody.

But, IMO it is too early to make determinations about what needs to be done to our machines.

NB I am giving my opinion, I am not a doctor, scientist nor do I pretend to be. :D

Ouch, I broke my jaw when my mouth fell open and hit the floor after seeing this idea or thought.
Made laughing painful.
Maybe I need to start a thread...."The most ridiculous stuff I have heard over the years"

DH would figure prominently in that thread.

Perhaps the current incarnations of these filters do that. However, we need a new technology that doesn't do that!

What we need right now is less CRAP POSTS.
