. . . Witch Hazel
. . .
The essential oils in witch hazel would probably interfere with adhesive.
I did a research paper on adhesives, and oil usually breaks down adhesives,
especially the type on tape and labels.
Think Goo Gone.
I would suggest the cheapest vodka you can find--80 proof is only 40% alcohol.
About half that of the weakest rubbing alcohol, but fairly effective, and it smells better.
Aside---
Interesting what is left after the locusts clean the shelves--we can tell what people don't really like.
Lots of chicken/turkey sausage left--also everything vegan.
Gotta laugh.
I like the Vodka idea.... two swigs per dab....

Don't forget your animals, they have to eat too. When I was in the store those shelf's were getting bare also, also if you have large outside critters.

My husband will tell you that my animals probably eat better than he does.

It's a joke between us that the grocery cart is always more full of animal food than people food.
And yes...yesterday the dry cat food section was totally bare but I am okay for now in that regard as well as the horses. I got dry cat food right before all this crap started and I got a large bag.
Plus I have a friend who works at the large animal feed store and he will alert me if supplies are getting low on horse feed and they also carry cat and dog food. A little pricey but that's where I get my dog food anyway.
I did think about trying witch hazel but couldn't find any plain witch hazel. I did look over in the facial astringent section to see what might be there that could work but everything that I saw had other stuff in it that potentially could impact the adhesive negatively. If push comes to shove I could at least try something but I am not at this point yet. If I had to I could probably get by with a good scrubbing of my nose with something like Lava soap. I am not going to run out of alcohol tomorrow or even next week. The bottled alcohol lasts a long time...this bottle that is getting low now....is the first bottle I bought over a year ago. It takes very little to wipe my nose off each night with it.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

The bullfrog buys many of our supplies in bulk--especially when stimulated by a SALE!
This was once an annoyance.
Not so much now.
He did, however, have to park a bale of toilet paper on top of the riding lawn mower.

Don't overlook medication refills. Not just prescription, but get whatever fever/congestion/cough meds you prefer in advance so if you do get sick, you have them and they aren't out of stock. Especially don't forget your Flonase, Afrin, or whatever your choice is for keeping your nasal passages open!
Although dollar store cough meds, etc. are being poo-poo'd by "experts",
I have found them to be relatively effective--and better than nothing.
I use artificial tears on arising, to clean out the morning eye-boogers.
Dollar store tears cost a fraction of the same damn thing anywhere else,
but their 81 mg aspirin has prompted Costco to do them way better.

Do you think Witch Hazel could help in an emergency? .... it has maybe 15% ethanol alcohol. .... a lot less than rubbing alcohol.
No, 60% or worthless.

You need at least 151, (nobody makes 120 proof booze that I know of), everclear would be good, diluted.

PR, I advocated vodka for cleaning oil off Pugsy's nose--not killing viruses.
As for the strength of distilled spirits---
Hubby and his dad made cherry moonshine for our wedding--180 proof.
Weird stuff--it crawls up the side of the glass, like it's coming after you.

I might have some Vodka in my vast (cough, cough) assortment of alcoholic beverages.

I will look. It's been so long since I have been in that stash I have forgotten just what is in there. I can't remember the last time I even drank a beer but I seem to remember at one time having stuff to make bloody mary's.
I would rather eat my calories than drink them.

So my drinking days or nights are long past being important to me.

I have always been kind of a prepper being snowed in for a week once without enough supplies so I started stocking a few extras to last a week or so. However, when China announced the Corona Virus, I saw this coming to our shores and started accumulating extra staples. Not panic buying, just some extras of the items we normally buy. Having started early, I was able to get my supplies without finding the empty shelves that are currently happening.
I don't foresee major food shortages coming, but I am glad I don't need to expose myself doing resupply trips. I can sit it out for several weeks, besides I hate shopping. My DME will ship PAP supplies, and my local pharmacy delivers prescriptions. My major concern is in these high stress times my alcohol supply my dwindle prematurely

I bought extra CPAP supplies including one of those pitchers that "distills" water. Most likely a gimmick but whatever I am lazy
