Still having issues feeling tired in the mornings

Post by jameshig35 » Mon Mar 09, 2020 4:56 pm

I have been using my cpap pretty consistently for almost a year now, but I wake up and feel exhausted. I have attached my stats from 2 days ago. I'd love to hear what you all have to say about them and any recommendations you have.

Welcome to the forum.

So you have nice low numbers but don't feel them. Common complaint unfortunately.

Some nosy questions

1...How many hours of sleep do you average? Real sleep and not just laying in bed.
2...Are those hours of sleep fragmented by very many wake ups? If so, approx how many wake ups and any idea why?
3...Do you take any medications of any kind for any reason? If so, what. OTC stuff counts.
4...Any other physical or mental health issues going on that might impact how you feel during the day?
5...Is fatigue your only complaint? Is it just in the mornings or does it last throughout the day?
6...Do you find yourself napping during the day or wanting to?

Thanks so much for replying.

1: I average 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night
2: I feel like I toss and turn ALOT! I don't ever feel like I fall asleep for that long before have to turn over. I am a side sleeper and my arm goes to sleep and wakes me up a good bit
3: I just take high blood pressure medication right now, not a high dose and nothing that should affect sleep.
4: I feel a bit cloudy due to the lack of deep sleep usually until 10 or 11 in the mornings, sometimes it lasts longer.
5: Fatigue and energy level- I am exhausted all of the time. I feel like if I could catch up on sleep, I'd have more energy. I've seen my GP and made sure my vitam B and D levels are appropriate and had a full chem panel.
6: I'd love a nap every day, except on the weekends when I do have an opportunity to nap. I get home from work, go to the gym, cook dinner, and then go to bed, but could easily come home from work and fall asleep for an hour or 2.

Thanks again

Take a close look at your BP medication. It's not so much that it can affect sleep but it can cause fatigue.
Google the side effects and look at several sources. I was surprised the find out my little BP pill is known to cause fatigue as well.

I am primarily a side sleeper as well and often the side that is "down" ends up with a totally numb arm which wakes me up and I have to turn over to the other side and deal with the numb arm.
This may or may not be related to a problem called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I haven't looked deep into it because the fix is usually surgery and it doesn't bug me enough for me to consider surgery. It involves nerves getting pinched.

If you remember tossing and turning a lot then your sleep quality isn't the greatest. Waking often for any reason will mess with our overall sleep quality and we don't get the nice normal progression of each sleep stage and the needed amount of sleep in each sleep stage.
Figuring out what might be the culprit though....not easy and even when we know what the culprit is we don't always find it an easy problem to fix.

I personally would raise my min. pressure to e.g. 7 and see if it helps... if so, I might even try 8 and then decide what's working.

Try searching Amazon using "arched pillow." There are several options available. I don't know whether something along those lines would do you any good, but it might be worth a try.
