Hoping he comes up with some good ones surrounding the corvid19 thing. We could all use a good laugh. The news has got me terrified even tho intellectually I know that news is hyping for ratings. Ready to run out and buy masks, gloves, a noclean, lysol....

I think the media's approach tends to raise the stress level without imparting much useful information. But it is difficult for them to be informative and calming at the same time when ratings come from the opposite.
My approach in my personal life is to go out of my way to talk to the people around me who have a terrified/blank look on their face right now. They need to talk about what they're feeling. Being a listening ear for them is help enough, something constructive to do, and it helps distracts me from any of my personal worries as a diabetic with high blood pressure and a lung condition or two.
I try to file the present situation under "opportunity to cooperate and be responsible" in this stressful situation. The authorities, both medical and governmental, are between a rock and a hard place. So if I can do something constructive by figuring out how best to cooperate with what they are trying to do by focusing on my small sphere and not worrying too much about the larger sphere they operate in, I'm good with that. The situation has already disrupted my life in some ways because my work location often involves person-to-person interactions with international travelers, and some of that has already been seriously curtailed, in cooperation with local authorities.
You aren't responsible for fixing any of this, just for not getting in the way of what others are doing to deal with it. Find satisfaction in being of help to others and doing the best you can not to cause any problems, and hopefully that will alleviate any real terror from taking hold. And if you don't mind my saying so, you don't have to watch/read the news, you know. If you know enough about the situation to be responsible, change the channel or the Web page or the headline on your phone any time it comes up, if it isn't being helpful or entertaining. The information age is a blessing AND a curse. Information is like water: you need some of it in order to drink and bathe, but the firehose of information aimed at us these days can take the skin right off our bodies and knock us down and drown us, if we aren't careful. Step away from the hose.

Sadly, the "media" is less motivated to disseminate information than to
score advertising revenue and aggrandize themselves for awards and promotions.
I was encouraged to enter the field--but I know I could have not been a party

Masks trap EXHALED moisture droplets and such, which is why medical people wear them in the operating room, to keep THEIR germs away from the patient.
Even if a mask did happen to pick up something as you were breathing in... you'd then have that stuck right in front of your nose until you changed the mask, thus increasing your chance of catching whatever it is you're trying to protect yourself from.
Stay sane, wash your hands, don't touch your face.
