What does the number in parenthesis mean?

Doesn't mean much on a Respironics machine report.
Close approximation to duration of events in seconds but not 100% because Respironics machines don't record/report event duration.
Now on a ResMed machine report it is event duration in seconds.

It means the number of seconds the event lasted.

However, I understand that it's not accurate on AirSense 10's for Hypopneas and will be removed in a future version.

*EDIT*
My answer was based on ResMed, wasn't aware that Respironics were different.

ResMed doesn't measure event duration for hyponeas...only apneas.
So with SleepyHead/OSCAR you get a minimum 10 second duration for hyponeas because the hyponea has to have lasted at least 10 seconds to earn a flag.

Respironics machine use some sort of marker system and that's what is shown in the parentheses...it's a close approximation of event duration if one were to zoom in and actually count the duration of the event.
Sometimes it's fairly accurate and sometimes it's way off though.

With the old Sleepyhead, hypopneas were always reported in seconds using ResMed S9.

Apparently one of the things we lost with the AirSense/AirCurve models was hyponea duration recording.
I get 10 seconds on all my AirCurve 10 hyponeas as well as my AutoSet.

I guess I should modify my statement though.....S9 models gave us event duration for hyponeas....AirSense/AirCurve 10 models do not.
Obviously the software can't show something if the machine doesn't record it.

I have verified with ResScan that all I get is 10 seconds for all hyponeas so it isn't just the software.

Where did you learn that it's not accurate for Hypopneas? Can you cite your sources please.

My sources:
  • experience
  • the fact that every Hypopnea time on an Air10 device, that has ever been reported by both SleepyHead and OSCAR has been exactly 10 seconds. So either that 10 seconds is not accurate, or it is the biggest coincidence in the history in the 13.8 billion years of our universe's existence
  • the fact that, as I stated, the timing value for Hypopnea's was removed in OSCAR
  • Hypop_10_sec.jpg
Will you be requiring a larger sample size for the hypopnea's I presented, or possibly a source for the age of the universe?

In fact, the "10" you see was not reported by ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP machines. It was arbitrarily added to the number reported (0) by Sleepyhead and early versions of OSCAR. OSCAR no longer does that, so you don't see (10) any more.

Katerific, the OP hasn't been around since September 2020. Joshua_CPAP necro-bumped a year old, no longer relevant post to scrutinize something he doesn't know anything about.
