After One Full Week -- AHI Under 5 Last Night

Post by vfont » Fri Mar 02, 2007 7:43 am

I've been on therapy for one full week. In this time, I've tried the Activa, Optilife, and Aura. I've settled on the Aura as the interface for me. The Activa leaked badly for me no matter how I adjusted it. Loose or a little tighter, it didn't matter. It just leaked badly.

I liked the Optilife a lot. It's light. It feels good, but again, if you roll over on your side and hit the wings, it leaks badly. Thank you CPAP.COM for mask insurance. I've sent both of those back.

After reading RestedGal's and Linda's testimonies about the Aura, I decided to give it a try. What a great mask. It works for me. This is one I am not sending back. It's solid. It doesn't move and with the rubber band trick, no leaks! I can sleep on my side without a problem. For the first time, I slept through the night last night (7hrs). My AHI was 4.8. I am ecstatic!

Glad to hear you've found a mask that lets you sleep comfortably, vfont.

For newcomers -- the Aura mask he's talking about is the Twilight NP mask by Invacare. It's a nasal pillows interface.

That mask was originally named the "Aura", then it's name was changed to "Headrest." Those two names were used for it when the company that manufactures it (Aeiomed) were marketing it.

Later Aeiomed sold the marketing rights to Invacare, who renamed it: Twilight NP.

On the message board, we often refer to it by its original name -- "Aura."

To add to the confusion, Invacare already had another mask called just "Twilight" -- a nasal mask (covers the nose.)

So, to get the real "Aura", you gotta be sure the mask has "NP" tacked on after the word Twilight... Twilight NP (nasal pillows.)

If a local DME says they've never heard of that mask by any of those names, ask them if they carry any Invacare products at all...Invacare wheelchairs, walkers, etc. If they do, then they can call their Invacare rep and ask for the Twilight NP nasal pillows mask.

Or, look for it online if you buy your equipment out of your own pocket. It's here:
