Are there any advantages of S9 over the airsense 10?

I have experimented with the ResMed Air Sense 10 and am doing so now with the S9. The S9 has a better humidifier chamber it seems to me as it is way easier to clean and you can plunk it into the dishwasher.

Are there any ways that the AS10 is superior in treatment or other features over the S9?

That's a strange question since the S9 came out in 2010 and the AS10 came out in 2015. It's like asking if there are any advantages in a 2015 Lexis over a 2020 Lexis. You are already using the AS10..why would you consider going to an S9?

Let's see, there's FOUR different "airsense 10" machines, and over 13 S9 machines... so...*shrug*

The older model "should" be much lower priced.
That would be the only advantage in my mind.
If you have been given the same price for both, shop elsewhere.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. The S9 is definitely cheaper and more available as a used machine. Put another way maybe it is just as good and also you can clean the humidifier tank easily. I guess I was just looking for members to tell me why the AS10 is better than the S9.

In terms of delivering therapy there is no real difference between the 2 models. ResMed didn't change algorithms when they released the AirSense models. There are a few minor changes in some of the features along with how it manages data storage.

It's the new version. it's smaller on your side table, that's about it.

Whichever you get, accept nothing less than the AUTOSET.
The name is right on the front/top, in plain view.

I have both, and I think there are some advantages to the S9 Autoset, even though it's the older machine.

1. Easier to just open the humidifier lid, and pour in water.
2. Not really quieter, but a different type of sound, which I find easier to hear.
3. If you want to travel without the humidifier, the unit is half the size.
4. Controls are on the top, and easier to access if the units are on a bedside table.

Otherwise, they are both great machines.

With the AirSense 10, you can move an SD card between device and computer without concern for the write-protect tab.
The AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her isn't pink.
The AirSense 10 has a Cellular modem built-in for connection to provider or MyAir, though some might consider this a disadvantage.
ResMed Airsense 10 will flag RERAs
Chicks dig guys who use the Airsense 10 AutoSet for Her

None of which are deal breakers except for the last one.

# 1 and #4 are good, #3 is a mixed bag, some like it, some don't. But I forgot about #1, it is a pain. How do they fix that on the Airsense 10?

Also, chicks really really dig guys who have a pink S9!

They made it so the machine doesn't care if there is some weird little text file put on it by computer's operating system. Huge plus IMHO.

Also a change made in data collection that is an improvement with the AirSense/AirCurve models....the machine doesn't overwrite the detailed data nearly as often so a person doesn't have to download once a week to make sure all the detailed graphs don't go away.
Near as I can tell nothing gets overwritten until a year has passed.

You should *NEVER* do this, because if you twitch and water spills inside the unit, it can ruin the humidifier itself.
Always remove the tank before filling.

Conversely, the Air10 machines are easier to access while actually in the bed.

Possibly even more significant than not being that unappealing pink shade, the AS10 Autoset for Her has an extra treatment mode, whereas the only difference in the S9 Autoset and S9 Autoset for Her was the color of the plastic, functionally they were identical.
