10 Days in Looking for guidance

Post by MerryB » Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:17 pm

Hello everyone,
I started using an APAP about 10 days ago and would like your input on my situation so far. I have attached my daily report from last night and my overview for therapy to date. I had some trouble the first few nights keeping the mask on all night but the last few nights hasn't been an issue. I increased the min pressure to 10 for tonight. I am curious about the leaks. The mask seems to fit well and I don't think I am mouth breathing or rolling on my side. Overall my experience is positive and I feel the therapy is beneficial but I would like fewer AHI if possible. Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks and have a great day,
Merry

I am not one of the experts on this forum.

That said, increasing your min to 10 looks like a good idea. Your obstructives are a little high.
Looks like you are snoring some. Pressure should help that too.

As far as the leaks. They are a little high but not in large leak territory for your machine.
Could you be mouth breathing? (leaking through the mouth is probably more accurate) Is your mouth excessively dry?
Would be a better to lower them some. There are techniques to do that.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. :D

You came to the right place.
Others should show up with more ideas sooner or later.

By the way the Overview Charts are not needed. Do not bother with them in the future.

You have done better than most newbies for a first post.

Another thing: This is your Thread. Please use it for now for further posts. It will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

On paper you look pretty good for just being 10 days into this.

I see no urgent need to change anything at this time but if you want to try a little more minimum I don't think it is going to hurt anything.

Biggest thing I see is short hours of sleep for the most part. That isn't uncommon for people new to this cpap stuff. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get all adjusted.

If you are spending much time awake with the mask and machine on then some of that AHI you are seeing probably is false positive events getting flagged.

When you have time you might watch the videos here.
http://freecpapadvice.com/sleepyhead-free-software
while it is mainly talking about central apneas....there can be awake/arousal false positive flagged events in all event categories.

Looking at your summary graphs you had lower numbers at a minimum pressure of 5, why did you raise pressure to 10.

You see the pressure line on your machine with those peaks that is the Philips way to see if you do better on more pressure you did not so the Philips dropped the pressure. The sawtooth pressure line is good.
