Mouth breathing is likely the culprit.
I wear a full face mask as well and had dry mouth/throat. The only way I could begin to slow down the dry mouth and sore throat is by taping my mouth shut with 3m Micropore surgical tape. I have tried the mouth rinses and a chin strap to no avail. There are other solutions that wortk for some here.

welcome to the zoo! you are going to receive a lot of responses that will get to the root cause of dry mouth. i'm not going to offer that. i'm going to mention something that will relieve your symptoms.

xylimelts. this is a lozenge that you place between tooth and cheek. one side is slightly adhesive so that it will adhere to the teeth. the lozenge promotes saliva through out the night.

this is otc and can be found at such drugstores as cvs and riteaid. these two i know for sure because i've purchased them there. they may be at other drugstores as well.

if all else fails, they can be purchased at amazon.

good luck!

New for 2 weeks

Post by Bvgrammy » Thu Jan 23, 2020 8:21 pm

I am a new to my dreamwear fullface mask and am doing pretty good. Really like the mask. I can sleep for like 4 hours then get up mainly to go to the bathroom and because my mouth is so, so dry. Then I take a drink Of water or suck on a Losenge, I try to go back to sleep but because of the very dry mouth it is hard to. I bet I could sleep 6-8 if I didn’t have that. Is anyone experiencing this? Thank you.

Have you tried using either a chin strap or firm foam cervical collar to keep your mouth closed? Personally, I did not like the chin straps and have been using firm foam cervical collars for the last four years. I buy them on Amazon. The ones I am using now cost less than $10 each and last me about two months before I have to change them. My wife also uses one when she sleeps.

I have also experienced extremely dry mouth. Mouth stuck together, ughhh, very uncomfortable, so I get it. You're not the only one. I use a full face mask & am a mouth breather.

Took the advice of Xylitol mints - wow - definitely works! Try it!

Plus, common sense stuff: drink lots of water during the day (not at night so you have to get up to use the bathroom). Don't overdo it with salty snacks in the evening, such as potato chips. Brush & floss your teeth really well before bed, put in the xylitol mints (they acrually last for hours) and that should help!

Maybe also adjust your humidity level up a notch? Moister air may feel better too.

+1

and i have a hard time with that. having spent 3 years in the high desert of arizona, drinking water was just natural because i could see and feel the effect of the sun. since moving back to washington state, well, with the rain and all, there just isn't the reminder that i had.

working on it.
