New Member - first OSCAR report

Post by jch23 » Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:52 pm

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea back in Oct 2019 and have been using a CPAP machine since then. I was fortunate to get my machine relatively quickly. After a 2nd sleep study, and a few issues with a low pressure setting, my pressure has been adjusted to 9. My scores are generally under 1, with the exception of one or two nights here and there where they are above 1 (nothing over 2). I recently discovered OSCAR and I wanted to see if there was anything that jumps out in my last nights report?? Any feed back would be helpful!!! Thank you,

The only thing that jumps out is that you've got the best auto machine, in cpap mode.

Like Palerider says...the only thing that jumps out to me is cpap mode.
But it seems to be working well at least on paper.

If you are sleeping good and feeling good I see no reason to change anything.
AHI is nice and low. Leaks are minimal and not a problem unless they are maybe waking you up.
How we sleep and feel is just as important as the numbers though. The prettiest reports in the world mean nothing if we are sleeping like crap and feeling like crap.

Yeah, the chart is dull and boring.

Of course, with sleep.. boring is good

This is good to hear! I am not sure about the cpap mode? I am assuming the machine i have has some auto set feature, adjusting the pressure as needed. I have found the flat pressure of 9 has worked. My initial sleep study found 55 episodes an hour and they set the pressure to 6, which caused some issues and after a 2nd study they landed on 9. They didn't mention anything about pressure fluctuations or anything. Leaks really dont wake me, I think they could be from me changing positions during the night.

In general, i feel much more rested and sleep through the night. Some days I feel better than others. By the sounds of it, i have probably had this for a while before getting diagnosed. I have some anxiety and depression I am working through, which are probably linked to all this. Any thoughts or suggestions on if this will improve as my sleep improves? I have done some research on this and there is definitely a connection. I wonder if others have dealt with these side effects and if there is any advice they can offer?

Sorry for the long winded response and thanks for taking the time to respond
