It would be helpful if you could post your machine settings.
In particular, the setting for RAMP.
New users often have difficulty adjusting to their machines, especially if the pressures are as high as yours are.
Setting the RAMP function to ON, the initial pressure to something like 7 or 8 cmH2O, and the time to 30 minutes or so can help in this transition.
What this does is to start you out with a lower pressure and gradually increase it to your therapeutic pressure over the time interval.
This will give you a chance to get to sleep before the higher pressures kick in.
A couple of other things:
1) Ask for a copy of your sleep study report. It has all kinds of interesting data in it that will be helpful.
2) Discuss this issue with your sleep doctor - this is especially important for you since the DOT rules re CPAP apply.
3) Ask for a copy of your CPAP prescription and keep a copy with you. If something happens to your machine on the road it will be necessary to have when you go to a local DME where you are. Every large city will have a DME so you can get accessory parts wherever you are.
4) Keep your sleep doctor informed.
Hope everything works out and this issue gets resolved.
